FD gave me a transfer date 1 month after the date I posted the form, which is weird because I have switched many times and it has completed within 2 weeks every time.

I sent them a message to complain, and they called me and agreed to switch my DDs immediately, and they are already showing up now. Now why couldn't they just have done that in the first place?

Lol yep it wasn't as bad as the lloyds one mind you which had a welcome pack that the postman was struggling putting through the letterbox.

I am still surprised my missus got the account TBH because not one month goes by where Argos are not on the blower asking for payment as the wally has forgot to pay.

I managed to opt out of most FD paper. I now only receive a credit card bill and an overdraft enewal letter once a year. Everything else is done by secure message.

I imagine they do it to give you time to sort your life out - inform your employer of new account details and give companies a lead-in time to have your DDs changed over. When I switched I was quite happy that I had a solid date that my new account would be 'live' on rather than just being told 'within 2 weeks' (when exactly?).

    Horses for courses I guess..

Some people like having a months' notice in order to get everything in order. First Direct probably like giving a months' notice because it reduces the chance of complaints because people didn't get on everything quickly enough.

My missus is well impressed so far obviously getting straight through the phone today shocked her especially as She's been with Santander since leaving school.

They are worth it for the lack of automated menus alone!

To add most of the calls they get can be handled by whoever answers the phone. There are occasions though where they have to put you through to a specific department and that department is not 24/7 and you have to either call back or ask to be called back.
