Motability acting unreasonably ? Or good deal

I am experiencing a problem with motability who seems to be acting unreasonably so let me know if you think I'm being picky or are they really being unreasonable.
A while ago I had a car on motability 5 year HP Scheme as I don't see the 3 year option as good value though it may be to some. This vehicle kept breaking down, infact it broke down on day 1 not good then kept breaking down with the same fault which the dealership could not fix. I was still paying for the vehicle so didn't see an issue and after while I'd had enough so had the car taken to the dealership and told them that I didn't want it back till it was fixed, though I was still paying for the car. Costs rose considerably and as I'm on limited income I took legal advice as I'd been told motability had an obligation to help out on costs as they held the finance!! Motability decided they were above the law and said no! So I said keep the car.
Didn't hear about it for a number of years [yes years] When motability did write to me they stated I was removed from the scheme for abandonment of the vehicle even though I had paid for it. I appealed against this, which was rejected until this year, however, it turns out that rejection was not to permit me back on the scheme but purely to allow me to appeal against the appeal.
Do you think they are acting unreasonably? I've paid for the vehicle therefore surely I have the right to do as I wish with that vehicle... Once again I know motability may work for some but be very careful if you have another way of getting a car.

HiYa charlyw, need a bit more info my friend !
Motability have 4 varients :
A new motability car on a three-year or five-year contract hire lease, its a single, regular [DLAHRM] payment that includes comprehensive insurance, maintenance and breakdown cover. You have no rights to possession but have the right to use the goods from the time the contract is made. At the end of the hire agreement (usually 3 or 5 years) the vehicle is simply returned to Motability.
A new or used car on hire purchase, over a term of three to five years. Hire purchase is a form of credit. You agree to buy the vehicle from your chosen supplier and use all or part of your DLA, pay monthly by direct debit for the period of the agreement. You have the right to possess and use the goods from the time the contract is made, and have the right to ownership at the end of the contract term.
- at which point in the 60 month period did you abandon the vehicle ?
- at which month in the 60 month period were you last in possession of the vehicle ?
- at which month in the 60 month period did the monthly [HRMC] HP payment cease ?
- when you abandoned the vehicle did you immediately notify Motability ?
- are all 60 payments made and on time, has the agreement has matured and reached 'term', and do you have the right to ownership ?Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I try to be an even-handed poster and accept that you at times may not agree with these opinions or how I choose to express them, this is not my problem.
