Can I edit an ebay listing ?

I have listed an item on ebay that finishes on Sunday, it was for collection only.

I now wish to revise the description to say cash on collection only not paypal or cash.

The item has one bid on it and my intention was to contact the bidder to say if he wins item he could still pay by paypal if he wishes. (He has very good feedback)

Can I edit the listing ? If so how can I do it?

Thanks

Your limited to what you can editonce you've got bids, but if you go to the item listing page, there will be a link saying "Revise your item".
You have to accept PayPal as one method of payment though, that's a condition of listing on ebay.

Yes you can edit the listing by going into it and changing the wording.

Unless the item is a vehicle, the wording you wish to use would be breaking ebay rules and you will risk the listing being removed if someone reports you

Doesnt matter what you put in the listing. A buyer can pay by paypal.

Personally i would refund the payment and ask for cash on collection.
Stops them doing an item not received dispute.

But you risk them leaving a negative.

  • If you are worried about claim item not received when it's a pick up, you could ask the to bring ID and the take a photo whe they come to pick it up. That way you have proof they picked the item up.

Which of course is absolutely useless for a PayPal chargeback.

Once there is a bid on your item, you CAN'T revise your discription. You can only 'add' to the bottom of your listing.

Paypal require an online trackable service (1st/2nd class recorded isn't an actual 'tracked' service) such as 'special delivery' or a courier service to qualify for seller protection in the case of an INR dispute.

A lot of people think that asking for cash on collection is 'illegal', it's not. It's against ebay rules, but not against the law... (I've actually been told by a paypal rep to NOT accept paypal on a collection item in the past, but ebay being the entity it is demand you mitigate your rights to seller protection so the lovely, cuddly buyer isn't upset in any way.

Richard Ambrose, one time community manager for ebay actually suggested giving your buyer tea and biscuits when they collect their purchase so they would feel guilty about scamming you and wouldn't bother...He now works for paypal. Says it all really...
