Item not received by buyer advice please.

Hi,

A buyer has said that a book that i posted to them has not arrived. the sale ended on 18th march and was posted on 19th. (looks like my first neg feedback on its way!)

It was sent by first class mail, and i kept a receipt for it. How can i prove it was sent as i did not send it recorded delivery and how can i claim for the lost item?

Can i get a backdated certificate of posting from the post office if i give them my old receipt?

Thanks for any help.

  • The receipt that you are talking about...is it a certificate of posting?

It takes 15 working days for the Royal Mail to class an item as missing. It's probably best to refund your buyer and then claim from the Royal Mail yourself. (if you have a COP of course).

Whats the problem, give it some more time  , Royal Mail can be slow at times.

What was the value of the item?

If it hasnt arrived by now then I would refund the buyer and claim with Royal Mail though I suspect that unless it was sent recorded or special delivery then you wont recoup all the money
