Hi, since upgrading from hotmail to the new outlook.com service i have noticed the following problem.

When i click the email link in the command bar in internet explorer 9 i always get the following error message.

It does work when i click the 'try to return to outlook' box, this takes me directly to my inbox.

I have already tried re-installing ie9, system restore, re-setting the default email program and reverting back to hotmail. When i reverted back to hotmail, i just got the message saying, 'sorry there seems to be a problem with hotmail' instead?

Before i upgraded the email link in the command bar always took me directly to my inbox, would really like this to happen again and not produce the error every time?

My operating system is windows vista

A quick solution would be to create a bookmark for either outlook.com or mail.live.com and then use that to check your email the overall effect would be the same, the only difference is you are clicking on a different button.

If I turn on the command bar and click the email button it opens the Live Mail program, and I can't see a way to change it (only to programs installed), so I would just create a bookmark, the effect will be the same.

  • Use Google Chrome. I haven't experienced any problem whilst on my hotmail account using the new interface on Google Chrome.
