Brilliant....Boris hints at leadership challenge

So why would Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson be hinting at a leadership at this particular time? Anyone would be unforgivably cynical and ignorant to suggest he was using the apolitical Olympics as a political platform to further his career.

Did he hint? I thought he was asked.
The cited article states;
asked if he would take a seat if it came up afterwards, he replied: ‘I honestly don’t know the answer to that question.’
Somehow this 'don't know' has been interpreted as being a hint that "he may run as MP" (well he didn't exclude the possibility did he?) which "has reignited speculation that he is planning a future Tory leadership bid" (as in, well we have to have something to fill our pages now the Olympics are over).
And if you want to know why the likes of cepheus keeps banging on about BoJo and the Olympics, consider this sentence from the same report;
A poll of Labour supporters also found that Mr Johnson is feared as a ‘tougher opponent’ for Ed Miliband, the Leader of the Opposition, than the Prime Minister.0 -

It was a poll of "Labour supporters" so it doesn't actually say anything at all about any those people; it says something about the psychology of Labour supporters. Specifically that "Mr Johnson is feared ".0 -
Looks like my faith in democracy is restored again, for the time being anyway. Just over half the people in Johnson's area of residence aren't mad after all.

Do me a favour :rotfl:'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

It's a bit tough to judge someone on where they went to school. It's not like you get much choice!0 -
Good point the child doesn't get much choice which is why children deserve an equal chance and it isn't decided by parents wealth. However, upbringing does form the character of a person and their beliefs. If these are significantly at odds with the interests of society then we have to question their suitability as a leader.
It probably isn't the fault of an illiterate that they can't become the leader of a modern country, but that isn't a good reason to make them so.0 -

Eh?
I can think of a number of reasons why it would be a very bad idea for someone like me to run the country.
Attending a public school is not one of them.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”
