    Hi and good morning all,

Been busy, cutting the back lawn (not done for a few weeks) now going to do the front. Hay fever playing up, but it has to be done. Not really a gardener, in fact what i know could be written on a stamp with a marker. Was told one of my favourite little shrubs was actually a weed.

Wife is getting ready to redec DDs room, nothing too fancy, just lilac emulsion to cover the landlord magnolia.

may make a few cakes later to keep DD from getting involved in the decorating when i get the eggs from the chooks in the school too.
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow.. :p

Many thanks for the kind birthday wishes yesterday. I didn't make it on here :o On now via my new i-Pad.
Congrats to the A level results and Uni placements got, and commiserations to those who haven't got what they hoped for.
Sun is back out here:j:j after a horrendous amount of rain - BBQ cancelled we adjourned to a local hostelry.:D nothing special but good food and good company.
Bramble just read of your break up, think you are right.

((hugs)) to those under the weather or sad.
    Take care all. DG

    Hi all,

Hope all the A level students get the results they need today.
Not been posting everyday as not much OS to report really, but I did make a loaf(we'd cut out bread for a while in the hopes of losing some weight) and another nightie for myself yesterday.Tea is gammon and eggs, found some in the freezer that is looking a bit freezer burnt so need to use it up.DS1 isnt in for tea,he doesnt like gammon really so might as well use it today. He and GF are off to the V fest early tomorrow so he'll stay at hers tonight.
My new passport arrived at teatime yesterday,(not DHs,have to go on hol on my own then :rotfl:)by courier.I nearly didnt answer the door, could see it was an unfamiliar man and thought he was selling stuff, but he rang the bell again which made me wonder.Good job I did.Hope the other one comes soon.

Molly have you checked out crochet videos on Y*utube, and Attic24 website?I couldnt get the hang of it for ages but kept watching and pausing till I'd done the bit she'd just done, setting it going again etc.My first attempts were fairly feeble, but i did master granny squares and have made a few blankets now:)I still need to remind myself if I've not done any for a while.
Hope everyone has a good day x

Ive been thinking a lot about retirement lately. Have any of you got any plans for your retirement? Are any of you living out your plans for your retirement? I know what i want but it aint gonna happen so i need to start planning instead of dreaming.
I was retired on medical grounds in 2001, having been on sick leave for the previous two years, so no, not really living out any dreams here.

You sound like Mr LW - he barely knows a nettle from a nasturtium, and checks with me to see what he should be pulling out!:D Re your shrub/weed - if you like it, let it be; a weed is only a plant growing in a place it's not wanted.;)

Derek and Clive had an early walk, followed by breakfast, and by the time I'd done that, I was just about dead on my feet! They're "interesting" to take for a walk by myself with the mobility buggy, because they invariably want to investigate things in opposite directions!:rotfl: Mr LW will come with us later, when he gets in from work; he'll take Derek, who zips off at a cracking pace given chance, and I'll take Clive, who likes to take things far more leisurely.:o

HM pizza for dins - the dough is being mixed in the BM as I type!;)

  • DD's stuff now gotten together. Just need OH's tops and shorts and he'll travel in jeans. He's checked all the car to make sure its fit for the journey. I wish we had a newer car. Its so temperamental atm and somedays won't start at all:eek::eek::eek::eek:

My helper is here in the morning (hopefully!) and she will top up my meds and help pack etc and get some other stuff done.

Have got snacks for the drive and will also have ham sarnies using up whats in the fridge.

    Afternoon all
Molly, I loved the artical about the Amish midwife, & as for my ex I just wish he would reap quicker, I'm tired of him cheating the system, claiming benefit, having homes & holiday abroad, I'll shut up now, my bitterness is showing.
Retirement plans, yes I have a plan, I've filled in some forms & hubby & I have a visit next week from Social Services! So bang goes all our holiday plans, otherwise we won't get a vist til October.
    Hugs Hester

    Good afternoon.

Congratulations on all the excellent A level results and commiserations to those who are disappointed. Listen to the story of my DB who unexpectedly failed all his A levels and had to abandon all his plans. He retired to his room for 2 days to lick his wounds and then emerged with a whole set of new plans. Lets just say that he changed course and eventually did his MA while teaching full time, with a wife and 2 small children to support and while he was building, (with his own hands) a large extension to his house. He ended his career as Headmaster of a biggish Primary School.
So if you've just dive bombed don't despair, your life isn't over.

Judi: Don't bother making too many plans for retirement, life has a habit of happening anyway. I was desperately looking forward to having the time to pursue all those crafty things I'd never really had time for while teaching. I have all the books and masses of eqipment for things like card-making, quilting, patchwork, drawing and learning Greek.

So far I've done none of these things and I've been retired for 13 years. Instead I cook for events, write a church magazine that is like no other church magazine you have ever come across, (lots of cartoons and funny stories,) knit and somehow try to keep up with all my friends. Since moving in with the rev I give talks to women's meetings, help with planning services, play the piano when the church organist is on holiday, ( think Les Dawson/ Eric Morecombe) and have discovered an odd talent - I can write prayers that can apparently wring the heart. Then of course there is my beloved Drop-in.
I promise you that none of these things were planned and I still have to pinch myself sometimes, although I still hanker after a bit of quilting and crafty stuff.

Wow that was all about my favourite subject - me. Sorry.

Just don't make too many plans Judi. Wait and see what happens.

Made bread and a batch of mince in the SC this morning and am trying to get a bit of housework done as we have a Manse inspection next week - one of the drawbacks of living in a tied house. It's a bit of a nightmare as next week is also church magazine week and we are aiming to finish sewing pew cushions and clean the church after all the workmen have moved out.

That's more than enough from me today.

Using my tablet to read and reply very slow.

Nothing exciting here except for the purchase of a new yard brush, hopefully OH will manage a bit of a tidy up soon he reckons that he needs to get some exercised as he is getting very stiff........did notice that while we were away.

DD4 and DS2 here for dinner, we had ham, cabbage, carrots, celery and potatoes, all very nice.

This thing is driving me nuts, so will say goodnight and hugs to all
