Tax credits and travel allowance

Hello, wondered if anyone could help me, my husband nearly lost his job but luckily ( well kind off ) the company offered a job for 2 years at another site 58 miles away, great that he has a job but it's a lot of fuel per week, he thinks he will get £140 a week for travel expenses, thing is will this go into his normal wages and look as if he is earning £560 extra per month?? Which will really mess up my tax credits, he will be spending the money on petrol, he won't be benefiting from the money. Seems as if we will be worse off :-(
