So I got a bike and said bike has been stolen from the city centre.

After reporting it and getting all the formalities out of the way I then set about ways to try and get the bike replaced, as even with the poor weather, I had been getting good use out of it.

The police recommended home insurance cover, I have none so that was a no. Although in this scenario I did not own the bike but was rather leasing it from my workplace.

So would it be covered by the company's contents insurance, given they were the legal owners of the bike, and if so can they refuse to make a claim to replace it, but continue to charge me for the next 11 months anyway.

I have a feeling that if I had insurance at home they simply would have said I did not own the bike so it would not have been covered.

Any help appreciated, and apologies if this is in the incorrect forum

Unless it was a very very expensive bike the firms excess would probably be a lot more than its worth.
