What to do with a non-refundable airline ticket?

Dear all,

I have a non-refundable airline ticket. Is it possible to change my name to the name of my brother, who wants to go instead of me?

which airline is the ticket with, many allow no changes, others will allow a name change for a fee + difference in fare (may not be worth it)

If it is a long haul flight with a major airline, name changes are generally not allowed at all, you may be able to reclaim the taxes paid and if you have insurance and the reason you need to cancel if covered, you may get it all back.

If it is a low cost carrier in Europe you can change the name for a fee and the difference, at the time of making the change, between the price originally paid and the current sale price

you can search on "airline name" name change...and it will be likely covered in the terms and conditions
