If account is closed, what happens re. Direct Debits?

Thinking ahead here ... if I'm successful in reclaiming bank charges and my account is closed (obviously opening a parachute account during the process), what happens about any Direct Debits with the original bank account? I can't see my bank being helpful in arranging the DD's to come out of another bank account, so I'd presumably have to arrange all this myself?
Thanks for any help.

Even if your bank weren't annoyed at you for reclaiming charges and you were their favourite customer...
They would still not help you transfer direct debits AWAY from them, to another provider.
Either get your parachute provider to handle the transfer process (if they offer such services), and your existing bank are legally required to play ball and provide them with the details they request
OR
Handle it yourself by informing the recipients of the D.D's of your new bank account details.
Note: If they do decide to close your account, you will get enough notice to hopefully resolve these issues then. You shouldn't need to transfer them to the parachute account if you don't want to just yet.0 -
Most banks you move too have a switcher service where they will move all your direct debits for you. This is sometimes only a feature on certain accounts though. I think your going to be doing a lot of ringing round all the different comapnies you have DD with to change it over yourself!Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0
