I think you'll find that our workers are not eligible for the same benefits overseas as our working visitors. That's why your immigrant worker is cheaper....they'll undercut our workers to get the job, then top up their low wages with every means tested benefit under the sun. I'd get off my a$$ and do a runner overseas if I thought I could swell my income by 80% for doing the same job.
My half brother is a lazy good for nothing skiver who lives on benefits in Finland, courtesy of the EU. And Poles were not entitled to benefits for the first few years they were here. In fact there have been many cases of Poles who fail to get work, and become destitute. I am sure most Poles are decent people, but we have a housing shortage, and no-one ever links the two. Surely there is some connection? A million or two extra people. I digress ...Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -

Ask your friend what he REALLY likes about our country. I'll bet it's not the weather.
For every working immigrant there are hundreds who do nothing but breed and sponge. Check out the job centre, local parks, pubs etc.
The English summers are not as hot as Polish summers and the Winters are not as cold, they don't like the rain. Like any person who has gone abroad to work for better wages they enjoy the better life style the UK gives them.
If there were so many Eastern Europeans doing nothing and just claiming benefits (I don't think they can for the first 12 months) then how come so many UK tradesmen complain about Eastern Europeans taking all the tradesmen jobs
I know plenty of Eastern Europeans, none of them claim benefits.
There are none or very very few Eastern Europeans not in work where I live in Central London.0 -
I'll gladly bet you a weeks wages that your Polish friends are on the make. You may be thinking job seekers allowance. If they're working that will be a no no.
What about housing benefit? Council tax benefit? Tax credits? Child benefit for the kids - including those back home. Healthy start vouchers for the breeding machines? On and on....
I couldn't afford to live in central London, and I earn a good salary. Ask yourself how they manage?
If people realised how much is paid out in benefits to our visitors, I'm sure there would be a repeat of last years riots.
You're obsessed with benefits, I can assure you the Polish guys I know pay their full tax and do not claim JSA. One is married with children so probably claims child benefit but earns too much for any other types of benefits.
They pay far far more in tax then they receive back.
I happen to live in Central London, they live in the cheaper areas in the suburbs.0 -
They don't like the rain? Well, that really does say it all!!
....and for most benefits, they just have to have the right to reside and maybe pass the residency test....register with a GP and that's sorted.
What does not liking the rain have to do with it?
UK expats work go abroad to earn higher wages in other countries where the weather can be equally against their tastes, are you saying that they are also benefit scroungers as they put up with the weather in the country they chose to work in for higher wages?0
