Haynes manuals - pricey!
Looking for a Haynes manual for my Mondeo MK4 - didn't realise how pricey they are now! Am watching a used one on ebay, otherwise they are around £14. Also checking on Amazon - £17. Anyone know of any cheaper places to buy? Not in any hurry, but would like to get one sometime. I know that a lot of info is available on line, but the Haynes is handy to have around (and I write my servicing details in it)...
Cheers!

Ebay is your best bet, if not in a hurry a cheap one will come up eventually0

Join the Ford Modeo forum, because they are pretty good, and some of the guys upload photos showing you how to do jobs, and detailing alternative fixes (which work just as well) but which Ford will not tell you about.
Haynes manuals at £20 are a good buy, because they will save you £££s if you use them correctly.0 -

Agreed, I always buy em 2nd hand on the bay. Might have been used as a mug coaster once or twice, but who gives a toss?

You might be surprised how many Haynes manuals there are in the libraries where you live.
Assuming you only want some specific information you could photocopy a couple of pages for a few pence.0 -
Brand new ones on amazon can be picked up for less than 2nd hand on ebay sometimes.
If you think they are pricey, Try getting hold of a proper workshop manual.

I'm surprised Haynes is still in business.
Half the manual is standard boilerplate and the other half is grainy B&W images with difficult to follow instructions0 -
To be honest, I wouldn't bother buying Haynes Manuals, the ones for modern cars are pretty useless and hard work, they do not do step by step even on common tasks, you have to keep referring to other sections, often in other chapters, you can get better help joining an owners forum, often there will be step by step guides with photos for common tasks, better still with joining the forums, the information is free, you can spend your £20 on a few pints down the pub.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0

Yeah, they're not what they once were!!!
These days they seem to go through a bunch of pointless and unrelated steps (like disconnecting the battery), then when you REALLY need detail they skip over the important bits. I don't understand why they can't acknowledge the difficult steps, then take lots of clear photo's and write a comprehensive guide.
Example: How do I drain off my engine coolant? Well apparently there's a drain tap somewhere, they show a vague closeup photo of it, but don't tell you where the f*ck it is.... Impossible to follow without a set of professional ramps to lift the whole car off the ground.... So my solution? Remove the hose clip and yank the hose off the radiator instead.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Halfords are too expensive for most things.
I wanted synthetic oil for my Mondeo - £36 in Halfords for their own brand, £18.99 in Unipart."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0
