Gift Cards - Marks & Spencers

My son & new wife had some Marks & Spencer gift cards recently as wedding gifts, they have been living together for sometime so have pretty much everything else they need, and as their cooker has just blown up they decided that they would buy one from M & S using the gift cards in part payment.
Marks & Spencer are refusing to accept the gift cards as part payment for the cooker they want as they say that the web site, that carries their name, is not really Marks & Spencer. They have also said that the terms & conditions shown on line for the gift cards do state that they can not be used to buy large electrical items such as cookers.
I have spoken to the Customer Services and suggested that they could cancel the gift card and refund the money on to one of my cards, I would then use the same card to purchase the cooker for my son and daughter in law but they have refused. They say it is against their Terms and Conditions.
Can I do anything to help my son & daughter in law get the cooker they want from Marks and Spencer using the gift card?
