Just comparing them to my current boiler breakdown cover which has nearly doubled in price. they are miles cheaper with lots of other cover thrown in,seems too good to be true. Just wondering if anyone here uses them ?

Search for Swinton on this forum and you will get peoples opinion of them. Of cause they are brokers not insurers and so assuming you dont want to make changes or have queries you may find you have no problems, esp if the insurer deals with claims directly rather than going via the broker.0

Can someone tell me why certain people always say "Dont use Swinton"
and search the forum to see why.
I have used the search and all I get is posts with dont use Swinton but not any specific reason why.
I have used Swintons for a number of years and had no problem.
Is it because they are dearer for any changes you want to do or what ?0 -
There are many threads about people being given wrong information, very high charges - even to "correct" errors or after saying there is no charges before doing something etc.
I am sure there are many customers who have been with them for donkeys years and had no issues at all but they do get a disproportionately high number of people complaining about things like miss information, inappropriate policies etc (anecdotal evidence rather than any FOS report etc)0 -
Oh OK thanks for answering so quick , I thought I was going mad and couldnt see a specific answer.
I must be lucky in not having any problems ,But to be honest I double checked everything and make sure before I comitted to my car insurance so didnt get to the stage of ever having to change anything.
The only thing I had at the begining was their constant emailing and telephone calls to try and get me to buy other products which I finally got stopped by screaming down the phone at them in rather harsh language.0 -
Have you tried your own buildings / contents insurer?
Most of these offer home emergency as an extra but the cover does vary. Some are very basic with quite low claims limits. Some only cover complete failure, some will cover partial. Some have restrictions on the age of your boiler.
There will probably be some info on this in your policy book even if you don't have the cover at the minute or you can check online.0
