The first tells me that the loans with the account numbers I provided [for reclaiming PPI] were not sold with PPI.
Funnily enough, I had a similar letter when I submitted my claim. I then resubmitted again, and the second letter confirmed that I did have PPI!
I suggest that you resubmit. Maybe it is me being cynical, but do they reject everyone the first time in the hope that they will accept the judgement & go away..?0 -

Really? Thank you very much for that information, cb4fwh. Now I definitely want to see my records - what's the betting I am told only the home branch has access to them when I'm in the other one I can get to?I suggest that you resubmit. I don't know. Think it's worth a little more investigation though - you've given me the confidence to be a bit more insistent than I would otherwise have been, so thanks again cb4fwh. :T I am so glad I saw your reply before going to the bank.0 -
I would tend to agree with cb4fwh! No harm in double and triple checking
I imagine they will try to put people off first time round so keep at them!
Sorry to hear you're feeling a bit discouraged today

We all have 'off' days. When it's my 'off' day, I decide I'm only allowed that one day of wallowing in my own self misery, but also decide that tomorrow is a new day. I wake up with a fresh outlook and a spring in my step, ready to face whatever challenges life throws at me  lol
I do agree though that it's usually easier said than done!

PS. Your neighbours motive? Looking for a compliment probably. Some people are like that and it does my head in!! Hope you didn't bum her up!! :rotfl:Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
Also, you don't have to go into a branch to obtain account information for your PPI claim etc.
All banks & building societies now have to accept claims submitted via their webpage & investigate accordingly.
I had no account information, just address & personal information & they identified the loan account that I had had PPI on.
Let them do the leg work!0 -
I ditto cb4fwh! You can pay a fee ( £10) I think, to get all your records but there is really no need - just be insistentBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Hello Diary,
Thanks for popping in, cb4fwh, HeadAboveWater, and Igamogam.
I was not impressed with the bank, yesterday. Saw a duty-manager-dragon who insisted it was not their policy to pressure anyone, and that a loan would not have been suggested unless it would have saved me money. When shown the figures - 0% deals bar their own loan and CC, and DH's funeral bill which the other manager wanted to add to the new loan, she just kept parroting "not their policy.. etc". She also said the old loans which I'd been told are eligible for reclaiming PPI, were of a type sold without PPI - she had no explanation for why the girl in my home branch said they were eligible.
I may re-think my decision not to make that complaint official, given dragon-manager's attitude.HeadAboveWater wrote: »Sorry to hear you're feeling a bit discouraged today

Thank you for this comment, HeadAboveWater; a timely reminder on how to avoid falling into the "slough of despond" (isn't that from Pilgrim's Progress? Can't remember, but the phrase describes the feeling very well!). I did need telling.
To break the pattern, I decided - after reading your comment late last night - that daft dogs and I deserve a day off.So we're going to visit a friend who lives on a farm about 50 miles away when I've posted this. With any luck I'll be treated to a pub lunch then we'll walk the fields and give the wild bunny population a fright. He's been asking me to bring the dogs over for weeks - they probably won't catch any; the idea is to persuade the bunnies that somewhere else would be safer for their raiding, somewhere without such a strong scent of dog.
It helps that the sun is shining this morning, and my migraine has finally given up and gone away.HeadAboveWater wrote: »PS. Your neighbours motive? Looking for a compliment probably. Some people are like that and it does my head in!! Hope you didn't bum her up!! :rotfl:
Ah? You could well be right. I just don't get 'twisty thinking' like that - makes me wonder whether I, like my dear DH, also have Aspie tendencies. It would explain why we got on so well together when Aspergers people so often have trouble maintaining personal relationships. I've never been tested, but scored higher than DH when we did the Aspie Quiz on-line. I don't have the same problems he did with emotions, but they say women cope with it better.
Still, if the neighbour was fishing for a compliment, her tactic failed. However, I shall be sure to give her one next time we meet - she does look great for her age and I have no problem with telling her the truth!0 -
(Sorry I can't comment on the bank stuffs - I have no idea about all that...

Aw that's great you're taking a day off! I def think you deserve it! You've had a lot going on recently and a break from the norm will help you recharge your batteriesIt helps that the sun is shining this morning, and my migraine has finally given up and gone away.

Hello Diary,
Thanks for dropping by, HeadAboveWater, Igamogam, and Eager_Elephant - welcome!
What happened to yesterday? Daft Dogs and I had a lovely time with my friends the day before - didn't see any bunnies but left plenty of doggy scent around the farm - but by the time we got home I was exhausted. Yesterday is a blur; I achieved nothing.
Now I have another completely new problem to deal with which has blown up overnight (the perils of having friends in different time zones). Am at a loss; no chance of any progression with paperwork or cleaning today. Must remember to take my supplements. <sigh> Wish I didn't feel so low physically, as it makes the mental tasks much harder as well. Hah - I'd get through a disability benefits medical today (but would need a taxi to get there).Eager_Elephant wrote: »I read your thread the other night but have forgotten some bits.

Thank you EE. I bit the bullet and put in a claim over the 'phone for Bereavement Allowance and Benefit last week, despite the horrendous cost of the 0845 number - just as well, as the forms have still not arrived in the post, over two weeks after the 'helpline' adviser said they'd send them.HeadAboveWater wrote:Who knows?! Sorry I just can't get my head around it. I am obviously overweight and apple-shaped - the only reason I can think of for her comment is that she'd like me to stay fat in order to contrast better with her perfect figure? ..And yet she's always so nice to me; I just don't know.
I shall be so grateful once Probate is sorted out, my medical problem has been dealt with, and I've achieved everything else that needs a prompt solution or which can't be done over the internet when I'm at the cottage.
Am missing DH badly - wish I could 'phone him to discuss it all, lol.
Now I'd better try and take HAW's excellent advice - had my day in the depths yesterday, so must do something today - though I'm not sure HAW's technique will work for someone with ME - the spirit is willing, but the brain is thumping and the limbs feel like lead; even typing is hard today.0
