Teenagers emerged briefly to collect comestibles, but then disappeared again - they're having a movie-watching marathon, apparently.

Well. I suppose they are on holiday. ;) :rotfl:

    Hello Diary,

Very low today; woke up to !!!!!! spread right through the kitchen and bathroom :( dealt with that, lungs now burning due to the stench of bleach, which is marginally better than the previous except that like many ME people I can't tolerate chlorine..

Then had to spend almost an hour trying to persuade t'internet to work - discovered DS had not replaced the dongle's rain-proof baggie and guess what happened during the night? <sigh>

Got the thing dried out and working, only to discover that yet another friend has left the planet, far too soon. She already has thousands of tributes on FB - well deserved, but oh so, so sad. :(

Thank you for your kind thoughts, Be Lucky and NewLeaf. It is always worse when a young person is lost. Although this young lady achieved an incredible amount, despite her tender years.

Her life-celebration will be something special, I'd like to go and raise my voice in praise and thanks for her time on Earth - and give her Mum a hug.
Doubt it will be possible <she said with a sigh, looking at BD who is curled up on the rug, confident that his midnight indiscretion has been forgiven>.

Hello Diary and dear MSE Friends, :hello:

    Oh dear, I was Drippy-down-in-the-dumps yesterday.. :(
Everything piled up inside m'head; mood wasn't helped by not being able to breathe properly (definitely overdid the bleach!). As darkness fell I shut out the encroaching chill by closing doors and shutters, but just felt so alone, despite all four Daft Dogs choosing to come and sit near me (which is unusual - they've all got their own favourite comfy-spots around the cottage). It even took two attempts to light the stove. :o

Anyway. Yesterday has passed. Today I can taste snow on the wind but the new moon has brought all the almond trees into flower; it looks like the hills are covered in balls of pink cotton-wool, and the scent of honey is everywhere (as are the neighbour's bees - have given them a pan of water to avoid possible conflict with Daft Dogs over their water-bowls, and later on had better go across the field and fill up the bees' own water supply as Neighbour is often a bit slack about that, which means the worker-bees from all thirty hives turn up here wanting a drink!).

Many of my UK friends have woken up to snow and icy roads this morning so I've no excuse to moan about the stormy weather that's heading this way, but it looks like Project One [patio roof replacement] will have to be postponed again which is a shame as one of the workers is leaving this week.
Think I'd better venture out today and stock up [on medications for the Old 'Uns mostly] in case it's not possible later on. :)

Am amused to see so many new diaries started on here - wonder how many will fall by the wayside over the next few weeks? Good Luck to everyone who's trying to beat down their debts this year!
  • Sorry for your loss Robin

    Thinking about you as always.

You sound a bit brighter today, Robin, I'm pleased to hear. I take it then that your teenage visitors have departed? Glad mine are all grown up now, they were a nightmare in their teens in their own way. I could never get over how long they spent in the shower, particularly DS - I remember wondering how on earth he managed to get that mucky when he did so little!

Yes, it's definitely colder here and I'm not expecting an immediate improvement, and your description of the almond trees sounds so lovely.

I hope that you're not too lonely - I have had periods of living alone, not through bereavement, and the long dark nights often made me feel morose (when in fact I should have been relishing the freedom of not having anyone else to consider). I know that you must miss PC very much, and I just hope that chatting to us, your virtual friends helps. I'd love to think that with a few key strokes we can lighten your mood, if only a little.
