Hello Diary and MSE Friends, :hello:

Thanks for the birthday wishes and cakes, Lucky, Sparky and Satchmo - I had a lovely, laid-back day and the outdoor theatre was fun; the audience were encouraged to take picnics [to which the 'thieves' in the play helped themselves with much hilarity]. The actors' interpretation of The Bard's work was - quite literally - more intimate than expected; at one point the leading man removed his costume (! - it was both a poignant and comic moment in the story). Just then, by chance a large heron appeared flying slowly through the gloaming, circling the stage before soaring away out of sight; very symbolic of the hero losing his sanity.. An impressively powerful performance. :T

We were lucky with the weather which was warm and dry; today the rain has returned leaving me feeling pensive and unsettled. Divo Four has gone to the library so CD and I have come out to visit DH's grave. We have the place to ourselves which suits my mood, although do hope it dries off so CD and I can walk all the way around - and maybe pick some blackberries - before heading back into town to collect Divo Four. :)

    Spends:
    Tickets - £34
    Picnic & groceries - £30

    Hey Robin
Belatedly many happy returns. So pleased you had a lovely day and the play (which sounds amazing).
Have to say I agree much better to have family you chose than others you have to tolerate. Sounds like a lovely evening.
I commiserate with the pensive mood, similar here. I am also blaming the weather. My Black Dog is prowling

Happy birthday, Robin! Have a lovely evening at the theatre (and I hope you managed a steaming hot shower).

Great cake satchmo. Robin, yet more belated happy birthday wishes. Glad you had a lovely day. On the DN BF scenario I'm never surprised to find anti- dog people, only having known cats for 30+years before I was converted to dog worship, just astonished they won't tolerate the hound for the sake of their humans. And the pudding thing was poor manners too imho! Still, if she loves him...Pub,alternative sounds good and am much impressed by the solar power to your van. Girls last heard of in Croatia. Am remembering your mantra for mothers. No news = good news. Have a good night, hope weather and mood lift quickly, and extra ear rubs for CD.

Robin, I was taught that it's best not to pick blackberries after rain, as they tend to get maggoty then (sorry if that's too gross for anyone's sensibilities).
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

    Hello Diary and MSEers, :hello:

Late shift tonight. Over-tired, listening to the rain, shouldn't have washed m' bedlinen today - not dry yet of course so putting off improvising a sleeping kit with clean towels, sleeping bag liner* etc. :o
    * Minor disadvantage of travelling light.

Thanks for birthday greetings Missrlr and Dansmam. :)

..It would have been DH's birthday today; hard to think am now older than he'll ever be after always being three years younger while we were together.. :A

Missrlr - sounds like you need a holiday! How much longer is it before you'll be "free"? Do know there are other complications in the way of such a plan, but making one to look forward to would help push Black Dog further away.. Even a couple of days looking at a different view can make so much difference - (((hugs))) - thinking of you.

Dansmam - yes FN and BF seem very much in love so I hope it lasts for them. :)
Croatia is one of the places I'd love to visit - it came up the other day in discussion with Divo Four; whether to keep camper-van.. Still haven't decided, but it's looking more and more likely - DS wants to add personal touches which would make living in it easier but be a bad idea if it's to be sold on.
Things like the solar kit are ok, that enhances the value - but it would be nice to add extra shelves and work surfaces too which Dealer warned us against doing.. :o

Did snap a teeny bit today; am waiting for the gas bottle to run out and was terrified it would happen while cooking dinner - two of DH's favourites although didn't mention that to DS and DR.
So shot across town to gas supplier before the shops shut and bought a second bottle - DH would have approved and done it himself if he'd still been here - which of course guaranteed the old bottle kept going, haha.

That really must be it until the end of the month though; a/c is once again perilously close to the red line..

Ah, that's good to know Satchmo, thanks. :T
As it happened someone else had already been around the woodland before me and stripped every single ripe blackberry off the bushes - saving us from maggoty pie! :D

    Spend:
    Gas bottle - £68 (there's a huge deposit on "light" bottles :o).

    Dear Diary, :hello:

It's Prevarication Day here in camper-van. Am trying to write to MIL, but getting no-where. :(

..Going to turn off lappy and have a tidy-up instead; wash dishes, clean cooker and fridge then get the hoover out - might even threaten CD with the dog-brush (carpets are looking very hairy atm).
See if that cheers me up and produces some inspiration for things to put in a letter to DH's Mum.. :o

Whatever else, am determined that today will be a NSD. ;)

Hugs Robin. Prevarication eh? hope you get some inspiration for the message to DH`s mum. No idea if this might be appropriate, but you could cheat and find a lovely postcard? But that would be a spend, darn it! Or just take CD for a gentle walk? Before or after she gets brushed! Hope you had a lovely meal:drool::drool:

    Hey Robin
You are right. I just feel any strictly not for survival spends now would be irresponsible. As soon as I can find another job I think I need to a take your sage advice and sort a holiday. That in itself will require another holiday for the trauma!

Hope your prevarication was productive in thoughts and you could write the letter.
