Hello Diary and MSE Friends, :hello:

Good luck to you both, Maddiemay and Missrlr - do hope you each see positive results! :)

Am feeling rather frayed today, due to the Highways Agency deciding to cut off SW England at night; M4, M3 and A3 access from M25 all completely blocked!
"Don't worry," said Muggins to DS4, "there will be a diversion." Yeah right; in the wrong direction towards London to the next roundabout, then right round it back to the M25 again!
Gave up after three pointless attempts: The M25 services were absolutely chock-a-block with frustrated travellers sleeping in cars, lorries, even tents around the edges of the car-parks. :(
..Couldn't help but wonder whether McNasties and Starsucks were in on the plot - their outlets were doing a roaring trade all night; pity the staff..
We were relatively lucky of course in that we just went to bed in our comfy camper-van, so did get some rest before tackling rush-hour this morning.
In all, what should have been a four hour journey took fourteen - but we did get to the workshop in time to have our solar panel fitted. I'll find out if it works soon because lappy battery is getting low..
We're back at the lovely peaceful New Forest camp site where we stayed before; am off to take CD for a toddle around the scents now. :)

    Spends:
    Fuel - £41
Solar panel - equivalent of a month's rent from T2 taken out of PPI windfall ;)
    Camp site - £27

This happened to me a while ago - could not believe they had closed all roads. It was about 2200 and I had a hotel booked near Stonehenge so wiggled around Farnborough but as I had flown in from Germany was so exhausted I was nearly in tears! having moaned about German road repairs on autobahn over the summer - too cold to repair roads in the winter - I was ashamed of Highways agency thinking. Imagine if you had been a visitor from outside the UK!

Hope CD coped with the lengthy journey

Oh my life, that is a nightmare, only option at that point is leatherhead, A24 and a27 and down that way, but not a good journey.
I do love the New Forest I wonder if you are near my sister ..... There is a gorgeous peaceful campsite near her. Off the beaten track as it were.
Hope the solar panels do work!

So I made a batch of GP with fish oil (as Doglet eats that) and spread it on grease proof paper (think a la tempering of chocolate) then put it in the freezer. I don't have paracetamol containers to hand. I can then chop pieces up. However Doglet licked some of the spoon. Good start

Hello Diary and Gentle Readers, :hello:

Indeed Maggie, it would have been awful for a foreign visitor encountering such incompetence from the Highways Agency; a really off-putting introduction to our fair land. :(
I used to work on the roads long ago, after college. Great job; me and one other lass, plus a few ladies in the office, working with up to five hundred men who were actually doing the physical labour. The government 'gave' me a new landrover every year for getting around site. I was part of the quality control team; in those days the only reason we'd shut a major route was to construct a bridge (wonderful overtime we got for that, as the entire bridge would have to be poured [concrete] in one go). On those occasions one of my favourite jobs was to drive around local roads and work out the best diversion for traffic which would hold up drivers the least.. Couldn't help thinking of those good ol' days while we were taking the three pointless extra trips off the M25.

I was beyond trying that, Missrlr, and DS4 was certainly beyond navigating it (he has many talents and skills, but map-reading isn't among 'em - getting some practise now though, as we've both lost patience with the satnav, lol).

Your words are a pretty perfect paraphrase of the camp site's name - if dogs are welcome but kids banned, then I bet it's the same place, Missrlr. Almost every visitor has one or more dogs, and there's a fenced area of forest belonging to the site which is a dedicated walking area.
CD took me right around the perimeter yesterday evening, with great enjoyment for us both. Am still worried about her though; she ate her dinner but now won't even drink the chicken-flavoured water - am syringing it into her mouth 10ml at a time. :o
Camp-site owner has made us an appointment at their vet's later this afternoon, when Camper-van Dealer has finished sorting out van's little niggles.

The solar kit appears to work fine; we saved a fiver on the site pitch price because an electric hook-up is now superfluous, hooray - that'll make 'wild camping' much easier! :D

    Great start! :T
You'll have to be quick when you handle thin strips of frozen GP though, because even the pills don't stay frozen for long. I'd be wary of the effect of fish oil until Doglet is on the mend - very small doses - because it will stimulate pancreatic enzyme production which isn't desirable during flare-ups.

Good positive steps re: doglet, hoping that it continues.

Everything crossed that CD and Robin are both O.K.

The GP that I have made is for me and I have been trying to incorporate it into my regular meals, this has resulted in everything tasting the same:(:(, so it will be the frozen tablets for me. It looks as if I will be able to use the blister packs a few times though. I may try piping some small blobs onto non-stick paper and freezing them as well.

Well, I've got a use for the novelty silicone ice cube trays I was sent to review, now. I managed to get two into a box of goodies sent down today for my niece's children, but still have two more, so they will be pressed into action with turmeric, olive oil and freshly ground black pepper.

Thinking of you and CD, Robin.
