Sending all the hugs and ear rubs in the world. Antib...s please do your stuff for CD. You did a good deed Robin, and the world's a better place for you and your good deeds - am sad and angry for you that this one is backfiring, and hoping for a quick quick quick recovery for CD. That vet sounds marvellous. More hugs, and ear rubs all round.

So massively unfair that that woman has caused such pain, not only to CD and Robin, but also to her dog. I'm guessing her dog was in pain which caused the snappiness, it is probably suffering hugely now.
How lucky that you were able to find a lovely vet quickly. Praying that CD copes with the antibiotics, and they work. Hugs for you both. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -
Gazillions of positive thoughts and gentle hugs to you and your beautiful "wolf", Vet sounds amazing, I hope that he and his magic medications will turn CD around.
Much love and gentle licks from us here. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Wretched woman, not only to overlook her own dog's suffering but to inflict the poor beast on others and to cause harm to others.

Hello Diary and dear, supportive Friends-in-the-Box, :hello:
Thank you all for your kind words and positive vibes - glad to report that CD is still with us, just. :T
Stayed up with her half the night dripping water into her mouth, before a brainwave struck - ice-cream! She licked little gobbets off my fingers, and then - praise be - started washing her front paws which was enough of a good sign to let me sleep.
Today was complicated by a prior arrangement I agonised over whether to cancel: Someone very close has been in hospital for almost a year, with very few visitors because it's sixty miles away, and DR was relying on me to take him over there too.
CD wobbled onto the grass to relieve herself and drank half a cup of water voluntarily while I tried to decide. The patient was excited and obviously desperate to see us.
Divo Four stepped in, offering to stay with CD, and another dear friend agreed to be on stand-by to drive 'em both to the vet's immediately if CD's condition deteriorated..
So with much trepidation I kissed her soft nose and promised not to be away for long.
Although m' old UK car hadn't been scrapped after it's altercation with a drunken driver [while parked], as I thought it had, I decided to take camper-van, which is much easier to drive despite it's size.
The visit went well, but all I wanted was to get back to DR's house.. When CD heard my voice she staggered to her feet, tail waving slowly, and willingly walked outside with me for a few minutes before drinking another cup of water.
The effort exhausted her; she has only eaten a couple of slices of ham since falling ill, and tonight she couldn't lift her back legs properly - CD is still very sick.
Am writing so late now because I've been sitting on the floor with CD, cuddling her and trying to get her to lick water off my fingers.
Tomorrow we are going back to the vet's; want to see how her kidneys are holding up and what her white cell count is after two days on antibiotics; think she may need to go on a drip for a while, and perhaps buy some of the vet's special invalid food to tempt CD's appetite.
Must brew up another batch of Golden Paste too; tackle this with everything possible..I'm guessing her dog was in pain which caused the snappiness, it is probably suffering hugely now.
LP would sit in CD's path; rather than move when she approached he would snap - tbh think that is just typical elderly, bolshy JRT character.
But you're right, apart from the lesion which was obviously hurting him, LP's eye will be swollen and sore again by now because I didn't hand over CD's precious supply of drops (gave O the names so she could get her own prescriptions - but bet she hasn't bothered).
Divo Three saw O the other day [in time to get out of her way], so hasn't heard any news of LP. Apparently she has collected her death-trap from MOT Boss (according to campervan Dealer).
Drat; battery nearly gone again - oh, for a solar panel!

Morning wishes for all to go well today. Hugs and soft ear rubs for the gentle wolf. How lovely that you managed the hospital visit and returned to a CD who responded to hearing you back. Wishing all well for todayI have borrowed from my future self

Dear Diary and MSE Friends, :hello:
Update from the vet's car-park: CD has been admitted because although my efforts to get water into her were relatively successful, Vet wants her on IV antibiotics and under their close observation.
The staff were a little taken aback when I said I'd be staying within shouting distance in case CD shows her usual separation anxiety, but tbh I think she's so ill it won't be a problem until she perks up a bit.
Apologies to anyone who thought my earlier remarks about JRT's were unfair; in fact I love their feisty nature, for a little dog they have the heart of a lion - but it's also true that I've been bitten by more JRTs than any other breed, lol.
Do feel bad that the deterioration in my relationship with O means I can't do anything to prevent LP suffering, because he's an innocent in all this and I grew fond of him in the time he was with us. If anyone can think of a way I could communicate the gravity of LP's condition to O without laying m'self or my family open to physical assault, then please, please don't keep quiet..
Dansmam - have just found your pm, written weeks ago!
Many, many apologies for not replying; can only guess that I read it late at night, thought I'd respond in the morning when more brain cells were functioning, then promptly forgot!
You're right; thank you for your empathy - there must be many of us in the same position.. :grouphug:
Aha - it's almost time to go and see what CD's blood test results show. Her temperature was even higher today than the first time we came seeking help.
Wonder if Vet will mind if I ask to plug in lappy for a recharge on their mains?0 -

Good morning Diary and Gentle Readers, :hello:
Thanks again to everyone sending positive vibes..
Another vigil, birds singing now to herald dawn.
It's been a busy night; a woman running with four pitbulls has been past twice since two ayem, then three cars full of police arrived to quell the end of a party across the road - the last un-arrested survivors loudly trailed from above by the force chopper..
Thought this was one of the quiet suburbs in the city?
Inside camper-van CD fights on. Can't eat, or drink unaided - just licking water from my fingers every so often. A few hours ago CD's breathing was barely perceptible as she lay immobile, draped in her wet coat beneath the wide-open skylight - Vet's advice to try and help bring her temperature down. All the windows were open until that party kicked off - DR 'phoned a warning to make ourselves less vulnerable (I'd had the door wide open until then too).
Divo Four returned from a lock-in at the snooker club not long since, in time to see a small improvement - dare I attribute it to the two small doses of GP forced down CD's throat since midnight (desperation because she won't eat anything it could be concealed in)? CD is breathing deeper now, and has crawled very shakily to lie at my feet..
Ayup - there goes the flying ambulance; can't be our bonnie prince at the controls, surely he's still on paternity leave? There's barely enough light but they're off on a mission to save lives.. Whoever the crew is; respect.
Respect.
DS4 has gone to bed. He'll take the next shift, unless it becomes a better idea to return CD to the vet's for more IV antibiotics when they open.
The last lot perked her up enough for Vet to let CD out yesterday evening, but the effect wore off much faster than hoped. Vet said she would have prescribed anti-inflammatories as well but CD had the allopathic pills from Spain too recently - so GP is the only alternative we can give - thank goodness Vet has come across it before and agreed..
