Wow, that food sounds DELICIOUS!
Doglet has steroid related food scoffing at present too. Seems to be helping with issues, but the shaking back legs are worrying.
Hope FD does cope better with her arthritis, have you tried Devil's Claw or White Willow - both I used for many years with great effect on my Ginger Ninja. Sometimes a child's aspirin also works well (same active ingredient as white willow and possibly easier to get a dog to eat!)
You are doing very well, make sure you are being kind to you - not too much and not too soon (speaks the voice of experience). It was the anniversary of my Nanna's passing and that was an emotive time, with much swirling of memories and senses. Remember the good times, even if it makes you cry, we are all willing you along every day

Good morning World, :hello:
Well. Couldn't sleep last night so kept vigil instead, fiddling with internet banking and watching CD who was very restless, although she's gone to sleep next to PC's bed now.
The colours of the dawn were spectacular; it's still gloriously cool outside because the sun hasn't yet chased away a flock of hazy clouds which have drifted over from the sea.
FD came outside with me to greet the morning - surprisingly she jumped up onto the day-bed; not done that for a long time so her meds must be working.
CD has eaten the soil around the strawberry plants - keep finding her with her head in the pots - so put in fresh compost which I meant to do last night (but ran out of light). Found three ripe strawberries while doing so; great, that's breakfast sorted.
Thank you for your support, HAW, Lucky, Granny and Missrlr - but think our positive vibes are needed elsewhere at the moment..Wow, that food sounds DELICIOUS!
I'll write out the salmon recipe at some point - it's really very easy; good choice for a 'special' meal.Doglet has steroid related food scoffing at present too. Seems to be helping with issues, but the shaking back legs are worrying.
Oh, poor Doglet; does your vet know what's causing the shaky back-end?Hope FD does cope better with her arthritis, have you tried Devil's Claw or White Willow - both I used for many years with great effect on my Ginger Ninja. As above, FD seems to be doing ok at the moment, thanks. Use White Willow for m'self, but FD is on other long-term meds which would clash so it's safer to give her Dear Vet's pills.sorry for my absence RL has been battering me senseless)
(((Hugs))) ..Difficult times for a lot of folks at the moment - hope you get through it unscathed.
- Hope we all do!
Had another setback re that CC with the expired 0% deal: 'Phoned 'em twice to get the correct settlement figure, then transferred in the sum closest to my own workings-out. Turns out it was £75 too much - which is now sitting in the a/c; can't retrieve it as the card has already been destroyed (I think). Hmm.
Paperwork Mountain has actually increased in size - found another pile in PC's desk. <sigh>0 -
Good morning World, :hello:
Hugs to all.
Found a friend earlier to say hi to CD and FD ........ but he's making me tired just by watching!!

Sounds beautifulThank you for your support, HAW, Lucky, Granny and Missrlr - but think our positive vibes are needed elsewhere at the moment..

Hello HAW, thanks for dropping in and giving me an excuse to skive from Paperwork Mountain - can't do more than half an hour without searching for an escape!
..Sorry but that cartoon Westie is just too manic (looking at it made me dizzy)!
Am fast running out of Divos..
One and co are away house-hunting.
Two has taken the plunge and moved in with his new girlfriend, so now lives about sixty miles away (therefore see much less of DGD as well).
Three and GF are about to take up year-long posts on the other side of the world; a fantastic opportunity which will probably be their last long trip before starting a family.
Four has gone off to a yoga retreat, then will only have a short time back here before he - finally - takes up his place at uni.
Changes, changes.
Three has already said that they won't be flying back for breaks so I'll have to go and visit them. Imp that he is, he then destroyed the moment by waving his hand in the direction of Daft Dogs while saying:
"You can just stick them in the pound!"
..Sometimes wonder where he inherited his sense of humour; not from either of his parents that's for sure!
Ok. Back to Paperwork Mountain.0 -
Hello Diary and MSE Friends, :hello:
Didn't get very far with my nemesis Paperwork Mountain yesterday, so am plodding on with that today in half hour bursts.
Was planning to go shopping first thing, but slept in until the sun was already high and hot so yet again, that's been postponed. Might try leaving Daft Dogs shut inside the Nest where it's cool, and go by myself later this afternoon.
Must be back before six though, as a young lady is coming to see about helping in the garden - if it works out, I'll be able to get away because she would do the watering every evening.
..Hope it works out!
It's been suggested that we should have an anniversary dinner in honour of PC, just for his closest family and friends who happen to be here at the moment; either six or seven guests I think.
So, should I re-create PC's favourite menu - which would be a slightly peculiar mishmash - or plan a better balanced alternative making use of fresh local** ingredients (**preferably those available for free, picked from the garden)?
PC's choice would have been:
Cava/Buck's Fizz.
Langoustine and cherry tomato salad (with an unusually sharp sauce).
A decent Rioja.
"Pig 'n chips" (pork chop with pepper sauce, chips and fried garlic, baked beans).
Profiteroles and ice-cream.
Coffee-cognac (or B@ileys for the ladies).
 Have only got spuds, mayonnaise, a lettuce and some tomatoes for the salad in stock - so as well as being odd this menu would be expensive.. Oh, and a vegetarian alternative will also be needed.
Must decide before going out because it's a list job (Not on list? Don't buy!). ..Even if I can maintain discipline and stick to the list, it's going to be a spendy bill.
Am wondering about doing the marinaded salmon again, taking notes of quantities for HAW and anyone else who'd like to try it? Not exactly a cheap option when catering for eight, although I might be able to get a good deal on a whole fish, and then freeze the extra steaks (overall that would probably be very :money:).
..Wonder whether our vegetarian is actually a pescetarian (many are)?
Salmon was the one 'proper' fish PC would eat, so it's still appropriate. But then I should change the entr!e..
He enjoyed fried Camembert with cranberry sauce - that might work (and would be considerably cheaper than langoustines!).
Oops; Daft Dogs are starting to grumble that their lunch is late. They are going to be disappointed to discover that there is no chicken left - until after m' shopping trip, of course.0 -
Hum, OJ the over payment for the c/card you can request to be transferred back to the account from which the payment was made - means a phone call and maybe confirming in writing.
Hope the trip goes well and either menu options sounds very good to me. Sunny here too and I am stuck indoors BOO HISS!Start info Dec11

Thanks Missrlr - that's useful to know! :T
Think I'll leave it for a week or so just in case they decide to charge more interest or a penalty for leaving..Hope the trip goes well and either menu options sounds very good to me.
Have done some costings, which reveal that I simply can't afford Option Two in it's entirety (given that shopping already includes dog food and pharmacy drugs).
However, could just tweak the menu Dear Old Friend and I shared last week; that would reduce costs considerably because gazpacho is very MSE. Plus, would avoid having to pass through the portals of a second supermarket (that's a BIG plus! :rotfl:).
Also, would it be unreasonable to ask the two brandy drinkers to bring their own bottle?
CD attempted to herd me towards the fridge three times before eventually accepting "Sorry, chicken all gone!"
FD isn't convinced; keeps checking their empty bowls then stares intently at me, barking.
(It's not working, poor dog :rotfl:).0 -
So much for plans.
Menu options were chosen by someone else and the meal has been delayed until tomorrow - when other folk will cook it.
My part was the shopping, which was exhausting; have slept more time than not since getting home.
DS3 had to come and unload it, and do the watering this evening.0 -
Hum, perhaps a good thing you don't have to cope with cooking too? Hope you enjoy tomorrow.
Have a good rest and hope FD and CD have now accepted the lack of chicken, although i suspect those two will go hunting for chicken!,,Start info Dec11
