We have a house in spain which we use through the year and then have a static caravan (not residental only can use it for 11months of the year) where we stay when we are not in spain we have been sent a form to fill in to see if we need to pay council tax does anyone have any advice such as how long we can stay in our caravan befor we pay council tax.
We do have some post delivered here as we do not have a house in the uk
When we are in the uk we go and stay with family and friends so do we have to pay coucil tax

If the caravan is used as your sole or main residence in the UK, it will be subject to council tax. If you primarily let it out to others for holidays and only occupy it when you have no lettings, then it would not be treated as a sole or main residence.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Static or not a caravan is due council tax charges if it is the main residence.
If I stay on a legal long term site site IE gypsy site / private rental pitch I have to pay council tax, if I move every 28 days though I don't.
It should be a band A charge and you could apply for a rebate when the property is empty (don't know if you will get it or not thought) but other then that you have to pay the charge I am afraid.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin, and roam the world at will.

The type of site doesn't matter, it is what the caravan is used for.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

The pitch is what is banded rather than the actual caravan , if its only a transient occupation of a spot then its likely the VO would never band the pitch.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. If it is their only residence in the UK then it is their main residence for the purposes of Council Tax. Residences owned abroad are not considered for council tax purposes0

A person can have a main residence abroad for council tax purposes and have a UK home as their 2nd home.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. From your original post it sounds more like they are trying to make a determination rather than automatically assuming its your main home.
How often do you use it ?I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals.
