Update: the company has now sent out the correct item and have not asked for me to return the incorrect item. Result!

As you are the type of person who doesn't like to do anything that is dishonest, I'd suggest you return the incorrect item to ease your conscience.
  • What is dishonest about keeping the originally delivered goods if the seller doesn't want them back?

If the seller was to pay for the postage in getting them returned (which they are legally obliged to), then inspect them to make sure they are okay for reselling, they probably wouldn't end up making much on the sale of them (always providing that they did manage to resell an unsealed product)
