If you can prove you have taken alternative insurance from the renewal date you should be able to get a refund.
The situation you are in though is entirely your own fault. Not to tell them of a change of address is just plain daft. And the fact you took another policy without checking your own renewal price is quite amazing.
I read today that Admiral insure around 3.4 million cars. For you to expect a personal phone call to renew is ludicrous.0 -

They seem quite capable of ringing me personally and all the other 3.4 million when they want to sell broken window or courtesy car extras so why not!0
