Holiday from home

Hi everyone
My dh and ds and I have two weeks together and we want to have a holiday at home. I have lots of ideas for days out etc but don't want to get bogged down with the usual day to day chores. Does anyone have any ideas of time saving ideas. Maybe send the ironing out etc?
I'm sure lots of you have great ideas. I'm quite house proud and OCD (ish) but don't want to bore my dh with domestics as he needs a well deserved break as do I but I want to keep up my domestics too:eek:
Please help
Many thanks in advance

I once read a blog about this. A proper 'staycation' just holidaying from home. What they did was had a top to bottom tidy/clean up of the house prior to starting it and made sure there were plenty of snacky/picnic-y/ easy to prepare meals in the fridge/freezer.0

Have you a tent you can pitch in the back garden?

Just don't do any ironing for two weeks - you wouldn't on holiday.0

Will go and see if I can find the blog to look at x0

Have a thorough tidy and clean of the house from top to bottom. If there are 2 adults and a child mucking in together it wont take you long. Then make a concerted effort to keep the place nice.
Fill the fridge and freezer with your favourite food and drink. Have stuff available so you can pack up a picnic on nice days and get out and about in an MSE way.
I understand feeling twitchy about wanting to stay on top of things. I am a minimalist and like my house to be clean and tidy. My 2 boys are home from school now and though the house is clean there are toys, games, books, colouring books and pens scattered in their rooms and over the kitchen table. I dont want to be nagging them and feeling stressed so I have resigned myself to a little bit of chaos. It is all tidied away at the end of the day when they go to bed.
The only thing I am bad at is ironing, cant bear it. So the washing basket is stored away in a big cupboard and I iron clothes for a couple of days at a time. We all look smart, neat and tidy when we go out and I haven't spent hours over it
Have a lovely staycation, relax and enjoy some precious time with your family. The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0 -
Just don't do anything except the most absolute essentials, just as you would on a self catering holiday. If you're going to out most of the time there won't be anyone there to make a mess anyway,0

I completely agree with the above... get properly on top of it before you start your staycation (tidy, clean, empty bins, get to bottom of laundry basket, fill fridge, prepare some home made meals and freeze so you can just microwave). Then when staycation starts just cease all chores... you can catch up when you get back!MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0
