Leaving eon sadly

Been with eon (or Powergen as they were then) for 10 years at least. They have always been the most competitive for me. My Saveonline9 ends on 30th August. Scottish Power is showing considerable savings for me. I can only assume eon wish to get rid of customers at present. What a shame.

Its been such a long time since I've switched I've got to try to work out when to time it. Aghhh!

The End of the World is December 2012,
so E.On has promised not to raise prices until the end of the world. Why bother switching, the power stations will all be destroyed in the conflagration any way.

Come on E.On, SaveOnline 9 ends 8th September for me.
Are you testing the faithful? I am running out of excuses not switching.

A switch will take 3-5 weeks, so with only 2 weeks left you can safely start it now.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • The sad thing is, although I know you don't get any reward for loyalty these days, I have always felt very comfortable with eon and have recommended them to many friends over the years based on their prices and the customer service. I know many folk have moved to them as a result.

I know moving suppliers shouldn't be a hassle, but sometimes it is and it is time-consuming. It seems really odd to me that they want rid of folk. There must be a reason for this. It's just disappointing that's all.

I probably wouldn't move if I was going to save £20 a year I'd probably wait, but their tariffs are just not competitive. I can save a substantial amount moving. They have always offered a competitive tariff to move to but now they haven't.

Thank you macman. As I say its been such a long time since I've moved I couldn't remember the time-scales.

    Many thanks.

Why feel sad about switching ? Ditch and switch, don't hesitate - done it several times, no problems. I've been with Eon for 2 years now , record for me, but now its time for Scottish Power. You can get cashback aswell as a cheaper bill if you go via one of the cashback sites. The latest Scottish Power tariff is particulalrly attractive as its not only cheaper, it has no cancellation fee. i.e. if Eon or anybody else launch anything market leading next month you can switch again - earning cashback again - more fool all of these companies.

Thanks for the energy monitor by the way EON - nice ornament to remember you by - not that it ever worked properly.

    .

It may be time consuming in terms of elapsed time, but not in respect of your involvement. It's a simple process using a comparison website.

Eon don't care and they will be pleased with any inertia.

Your best protest is to switch and penalise them in the same way they are happy to penalise you.:)

As above. Once you have your kWh figure, switching should be no more than a 20 minute exercise via a comp site and a cashback site. Neither time-consuming nor a hassle, even if done once a year.
Average savings are £250, so that's equivalent to you earning £750 per hour after tax-not a bad investment for 20 minutes of your time.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Thanks guys.

I've done it - I've done my application to Scottish Power from MSE link to get the full £70 cashback!

Took about 2 mins on moneysupermarket.com. Hope all goes smooth now.
