window or aisle?

I haven't pre-booked my seat (I saw the price and thought  !!)

do you still get asked if you would prefer a window or aisle seat? or can you request it when checking in?

No, if you haven't pre-booked it'll be a free-for-all, so get there early if you want your pick.

I've never once not been seated together or not been able to get the seats we wanted - we usually ask for adjacent aisle seats

Shouldn't be a problem, most early arrivals seem to prefer window seats. Just don't arrive at the gate at the last minute, because you might find there's only middle seats left.

I thought TC dished out seat numbers at check-in (in which case you should be able to request an aisle seat).

no danger of that - I've upgraded my airport lounge and plan to get my monies worth so will be there ready to check in as early as I can!!
