Pampas out of control

We have a Pampas Grass which is growing out of control. The grass is about 3 years old and if we could turn the clock back, we would have planted it in a different place.

My question to anyone is, can I possibly reduce the size of it without causing damage. My only other solution will be to try and remove it altogether which I understand is a challenge in itself.

We do like the grass but it's completely taken over the border.

Thanks
Alan

I'd be tempted to move it completely now so you don't have the same problem again in another 3 years.

If you can get a sharp edged spade you could cut it out in smaller manageable blocks then replant where it will have plenty of space to grow.

I know some people are sniffy about pampas but like you we like them (look stunning at dusk against a plain background) and it's great entertainment watching the birds attacking the plumes in the spring to get nesting material.

Is there any specific time of year that you should (or shouldn't) burn it?

Mine's been where it is for at least 10 years, never burnt, and frankly it looks a bit of a mess.
