Can you tell me what this says please. Usually, it is C:\Users\yourname\Document\

C:\Documents and Settings\spannerzone\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5
There are no folders within the temporary internet files, but I carried out lots of hunting/searching in this area."There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0 -
Although it opens in word, the download from gmail will be to a different location, may be worth googling to see where gmail downloads its attachments to. The fact you kept saving and if did not prompt for filename indicates it did safe somewhere on your drive. Gmail attachments may go into browser cache, so worth opening browser and looking at file history as it might be there.
I believe there is a downloads folder as default, but it's not in there as that's only when the file is saved and opened. When just opened it seems to default to the temporary internet folder."There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0 -
Thanks so much everyone, but I do believe the file to be lost and have spent the night rewriting the whole document.
At least it's done now and hopefully anything important will be saved into a permanent file in the future!
But thanks again for taking the time to give me suggestions and advice, it is really appreciated.
At this point - I don't actually want to find it as the work has been redone!
