Advice for SJA mess!!

Hi, I had my claim approved on 9th July, I think, and it's now 14th August and I've not received anything yet. I have to pay my rent and survive. Is there anything I can do to help matters?
I'm from the Isle Of Man, living in the North West now because there is more job opportunities here than there is at home. JCP is saying that there is a problem with my NI number that is now being resolved. I've got the contact details to apply for a crisis loan, but is there anything else I can do? I'm really stuck and I don't really know what I can do. Any advice would be really helpful!
Thanks,
Hannah

Often an application for a crisis loan will result in the processing of the JSA claim in order to avoid the loan. If not the loan will be issued for your living costs and HB can be processed on a nil income basis- they don't need to wait for the JSA to be awarded. If you claimed HB as part of your JSA claim you would need to fill in a claim form directly with the council and ask them to process with a nil income- you would need put in a letter with the HB claim explaining that you are awaiting a JSA decision and have no income. Without knowing what the problem is with the NI number I can't say if this might also cause delays with the Crisis loan and HB applications.0

Did you move after registering your claim?
If so, your new office might have a problem pulling the computer records in. It happens sometimes. Even with old claims from before.
I vaguely remember particular problems with claims being pulled from Northern Ireland. It may be a similar issue with the Isle of Man.
This is probably the NINO problem they refer to; not being able to process it on line in the North West.
But if you are due a payment, they can process it off line. It's fiddly but there is a procedure for it and they should do that rather than resort to a crisis loan.0 -
I haven't applied for HB. I rang my council for help & advice but they as of yet have failed in getting back to me. The problem with the NIno is just that UK says it won't use my Manx NIno as "it's a whole different system", even though the letter in which I received proof of my Manx NIno does state that "it is the only NI number which you should use throughout your working life ... is valid for all NI & benefit purposes in IoM & UK." - tad annoying they see differently. Thank you for your advice though, I will get back on at HB & see if my; as it stands - lack of NIno, will effect my claim.0

No I moved before, it was when I went to sign on for JSA after almost 3 weeks that they discovered I didn't even exist on the system, thus informing me I haven't received any payments!missapril75 wrote: »But if you are due a payment, they can process it off line. If they could do that it'd be so helpful... I keep asking is there nothing else they can do other than "just wait for another week and see if new NIno comes through" !!! they give me one number to ring, who tells me they just can't do anything, then proceed to give me the same number again next time.
I'll see about the off line thing, thank you so much0 -

Insist on it - without getting their backs up.
Say you've heard that others had similar problems but paying "clerically" was a temporary solution used.
When I worked in DWP every office had their "clerical" claims that couldn't be maintained on computer. Comments here from current DWP staff suggest it still happens.0 -
there is a problem with the systems recognising IOM insurance numbers, but it can be put onto the system by an office elsewhere but this does take time, see if they willl pay you clerically in the meantime.0
