Who to complain to about my car insurance???

Matter is not resolved as far as im concerned! They charged my brother admin fees for sending out a new insurance cert with amended details and they didnt even send it! sent him a renewal for next year with his private plate still on it, then he rang to query them. Its just luck we found out they didnt have a clue and would have carried on as it was.
I have escalated it further with the insurance and my brother is making a separate complaint and my brother has done the same.
Insurance company have apologised and are now saying the mistake they made is regrettable, but didnt brake and rules they have to abide by? That just got me pee'd right off.
All it would have taken is one copper to pull me over out of office hours and thats my car taken off me and me left to make my own way home like ive broken the law!
But that never happened, so what is the problem?

TAF if the police had pulled you over then all that would have happened is the error would have been found and dealt with so, so what is the problem?
It has been resolved they have corrected the issue. Your brother would have been charged the admin fee on his own policy if he changed the details so cant see why that is an issue.
If he didnt receive docs why did he not chase that?
Have you never made a mistake OP?
Accept that the company have apoligised and corrected it no harm done.First Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -
I don't think you can expect much more than an apology here; someone screwed up, they put it right when they found out about it, and you weren't nicked or anything like that. Mistakes happen and it sounds like everything turned out OK in the end.
Your brother should be able to get the admin fee back if he complains enough. After all they did screw up the amendment they were charging for!
Do you and your brother share the same address? Do you have the same initials? Trying to think how this could have happened, maybe the guy on the phone just applied the policy amendment to the entry at the top of his screen, rather than thinking "what if there are two D Camerons at this address?".0 -
Thanks but its not their complaints procedure im after i want to report them to the governing body ie fsa?
The FSA do not handle consumer complaints. If you contacted the FSA they would just pass the information on to the insurer or tell you to contact the insurer. The FSA deal with complaints at a commercial level. When they visit firms they look at the complaints file and deal with trends or widespread issues. Not one-off human errors that can and will occur
The FOS, as mentioned in above posts, can be accessed after you complain to the company and they give their outcome. However, the FOS are only there to deal with complaints that you are not happy with the outcome. The FOS do not tell the firm off or take any action against the firm.
So, if the response from the firm is apologetic and you are not out of pocket and no issues have come from it then then taking it to the FOS would be a complete waste of time for all concerned.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
