Hello
I am taking VOLUTNARY REDUNDNACY at the end of august, and will receive just over 30k (30 being tax free)
I am looking for alternative employment, but worse case scenario will I qualify for any support?
situation
4 kids at home, but 1 is 20 in ft education on uni course. Other 3 all under 16 and in ft education
partner works 21 hrs a week earns about £675 a motnh take home
childcare....circa £100 a month
no other income, mortgage etc etc
worked for 15 yrs plus+ always paid NI / Tax etc, never claimed previously
anything? council tax reduction? school dinners? JSA?
If not is it worth signing on for a stamp etc etc?
Thanks very much

You should get contributions based JSA for yourself for the first six months, but with your redundancy payout and wifes income I doubt there is anything else you could claim. One thing you need to watch out for, if you don't get another job quickly, is that any possible future claims could be affected by the amount of redundancy money you have received. You cannot just spend it or dispose of it as you wish or they could consider it deprivation of capital, meaning that they can operate on the basis that you still have the money even if you don't have it.0

VR is no differnce to normal redundacy you can claim the same benifits as anyone.
best to ask on the benifits board for details
Problem is £30k in the bank usualy rules out most means tested benifits.
Contributions JSA is available for up to 6months, apply the date of termination.0
