Hi Claire,
From what I have read on various forums, companies like Think Banking offer an alternative to a basic bank account. It is similar to companies such as Secure Trust and ClearCash etc that give you banking facilities where a mainstream bank may decline you.
Do note that fees to apply for these accounts, but could be a good solution for some people:T
hope this helps.

I know nothing about them, but searches of the forums reveal plenty of discussions about them:

I've been with Think Banking for almost a month and very happy so far. The monthly fee is £14.50, but as I was getting lots of charges with first direct, it works out I'm saving money. The money manager is great if you are struggling with your finances. The only issue I have had is that it take 8 days to clear a cheque.0

I don't get the point of Think Banking... surely you could just get a free basic bank account from a high street bank?0

if only it were that simple billbennett, even basic accounts are hard to get which is why i personally opted for the ClearCash card and fcwalker the Think banking option. Even when i was trying to get a basic account, not all offered me a card to use in shop etc... When i complete my IVA i may look for a normal bank account but still nervous of them!!KNOW THE VALUE OF THINGS, NOT THE PRICE:money:0
