I'm trying to source a PC to run Onyx Postershop The following are the Optimal System Requirements:
* Supported OS Windows XP Pro with the latest service pack
* Windows 2000 Pro / Server with the latest service pack
* CPU Intel Pentium IV or higher / Xeon 3+ GHz
* Athlon 64 / Opteron 2+ GHz
* Dual CPU (for multiple RIPs)
* Storage Two 80 GB Hard Drives
* 2 GB RAM per CPU
* Video 1280 x 1024 16-bit Color
* Hardware USB Port (for security key)
* DVD-ROM Drive
I would think a dual core cpu and 2GB RAM would suffice for our 2 rip version.
Any suggestions as to where to source it from please?

What do you call reasonably priced?
This one is £751 (when you reduce the warranty to one year and includes a monitor which you may not need):

I've been looking at the Dell site and have come up with 2 systems costing about the same price. The significant differences between the specs are as follows:
AMD® Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core processor 5000 and 4GB RAM
or
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E6600 Processor (2.4GHz, 1066MHz, 4MB) and 2GB RAM
Can anyone suggest which would be the better machine for my purpose?
I will need it to be able to process large print files in the background whilst I am working with Photoshop, Illustrator InDesign, etc.

If you look here:
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/cpu/charts.html?modelx=33&model1=465&model2=432&chart=193
You can compare benchmarks for those two processors. The Intel comes out above the AMD for the few I looked at (although not by much). The larger amount of RAM may help to swing it the AMD's way if you are processing large files though.Charlie0 -
That's very interesting. Thank you.0

wouldn't bother with xp pro as all that is really different is a few networking features and nothing that should affect the running of that program.
Looks like it may be memory hungry so look for 2gb ram (upgrade yourself will usually be alot cheaper if a computer only comes with 1gb).0 -
