Hi All

I am in the process of buying a house (completion date not yet known) and Im trying to draw up estimated outgoings each month.

How do you go about choosing a provider? All of the comparison sites want to know my current provider - but I dont currently have one as I am a BTB
Thanks

Just choose any provider to get the process going.

Doesn't matter. Choose any supplier and tariff, but best a standard tariff, then compare for annual electric of 3,300 kWhrs and gas of 16,500kWhrs. The result will be listed in ascending price order. The price is only valid for the particular consumption but the % saving is valid for a wide range of consumption (very low consumption excepted). Beware of "gotchas" but that is another issue.

Above is correct assuming a property with gas CH and DHW.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Its a 2 bed terrace with one bathroom if that helps - are the usage amounts above still relevent?

    Thanks

Yes they are, subject to gas CH and DHW.
If it has all-electric heating, then no.

Your personal usage amount will differ but for the comparison the % comparison figures are accurate across quite a wide range of consumptions.

Lesson 2, beware "deferred discount" unless you understand the circumstances you could forfeit the discount. "Deferred discount" commonly features in NPower and First Utility tariffs.
