Experian Credit Expert

Can any one advise on credit agency
My credit score given to my by Experian has been 999 which is categorised as excellent for many years.
On July 25th I was rejected for a credit card and advised to speak to Credit expert.
I visited their website and they had doubled all of my records and advised that I had lived at my house for 24 years and again for 23 years
Resulting in doubling my entire report, giving a false figure of amount of out standing debt of and Credit available.
This resulted in a search made by Tesco offering a credit card @ 0% for 16 months to be rejected.

The error and timing of Tesco's viewing has resulted in my Excellent 999
credit expert score held for many years being cut to Poor 686.
I complained and the double entry was corrected, but only to Fair 765.
Does any one know if this has occurred to anyone else

I wouldn't worry mate as your pathetic worthless scores you've been paying for are about as much use to lender then a bike with no wheels.

Lenders use their own credit scoring system so please take no notice of 999 as even ex bankrupts have a 999 score with credit expert.

That would only be the case once the bankruptcy was removed along with any other defaults or ccj's that go along with it. 6 years from registration.

I agree though, worthless score which means nothing in the grand scheme of things, but just gives the user a indication of how good a state their credit file is in at the time of the report. Certainly the score supplied is not used by anyone considering your application for a credit card.

Advice given to ignore the score and just look at the data is good :D

Quite unbelievably shocking that. A satisfied IVA should have knocked the score down considerably to something like 865 (fair) up until the day it's deleted. Then it shoots back up to around 965 (Excellent) once it's gone from my experience.

Not that the score means anything as you say.
  • For anyone currently paying the £14.99(!) a month fee for credit expert, you can get all of the info that you actually need (full access to your credit report) for £7.99 a month.

Just call them and say that you want the cheaper service. The only thing you loose is the worthless score. They don't advertise this membership option - they claim that it's on their website but I've never seen it.

You can go one better, for £1.99 they'll inform you of any changes to your credit report. You'll just see the changes though and lose access to view reports. You can always get a Stat Report for £2 though.

Alternatively, cancel Credit Expert altogether and get Noddle / Call Credit for free.

Equifax will also downgrade you to 12 months of "lite" service if you cancel their membership. Diarise in 12 months and cancel that then though.

Equifax are the devil spawn. They are by far the most inept organisation I have ever dealt with. Their customer service reps are truely awful as well. I tried to join a while back (free trial for the £12 cashback through TCB) and there was a problem with locating my file. I just gave up in the end as the robot on the other end of the line just kept repeating the same line over and over again I when I was trying to explain the issue. I asked to cancel my application and she said ok and hung up on me, of course I was still charged!

There are so many 'my score is 999 but...' posts on this forum and they come up so often that you begin to wonder if a 1 post OP with another 999 score story isn't a troll. They certainly didn't try too hard doing a search.

However, I will be nice :hello::wave::santa2:

You don't have one credit score, you have many, many credit scores all over the place.

Each time you apply for credit, the lender will calculate a new credit score there and then using all sorts of data. You are not told what the score is. All you know is yes or no.

Credit scores from the likes of Experian, Equifax, etc are not actual credit scores (you are not applying for credit). They are just a number which represents the data that they hold about you. So don't waste your money on them, or worry too much if they are not 999.
