Am I receiving a disability premium?

Hi I just got my letter to say I am in the support group and I will be paid £34.05 extra because I am in the support group.
I am currently filling in my utility form regarding the warm home discount scheme and the question is am I in receipt of a disability premium or not,I have no idea about what is classed as a premium or not sorry.
Can someone put a confused middle aged lady straight please.

I think its for if you claim DLA, with the premium which is paid on top of IS, ESA etc xx

£34.05 is the component in the Support Group, but dont know if its classed as DP, as stated before DP is a premium found on I.S and JSA.

Yes I am on high rate DLA but not income support,I'm on contribution based ESA in the support group.

I thought if on DLA high rate care you may get SDP or EDP. Severe Disability Premium and Enhanced Disability premium, both of these can be awarded on ESA
but low rate care, doesnt give you the above.

The £34.05 is component in the Support Group it is similar to DP on IS but its not a DP as such, but just to confuse its the same amount of money as the DP.
The ordinary DP is not awarded on an ESA claim as such but just to make sure you dont miss out the above is....

Why do you need to know if it is the DP? Are you filling something in

Yes I am filling in the new British gas warm home discount scheme, it replaces the essentials tariff..
It asks if I am in receipt of any disability premium or suffer from a long term physical or mental illness,or am I in receipt of disability benefits or registered disabled.

You should qualify for the British Gas Warm Home Discount on two counts
DLA is a disability benefit and you have an illness because you on ESA

• Customer household has an annual income of less than £16,190 and the account holder is living with a mental or physical disability or illness, or there is an element of vulnerability in the home

You may qualify for Enhanced Disability Premium (due to Support Group if you're on income related ESA).. if so it'll automatically be added in with your ESA... on top of the ESA main rate and support group component rate. The DWP seem to refer to it as Disability Income Guarantee or similar when giving breakdown of your payments.... exactly what you should never do in a Quality System.. have completely different names for the same thing...lol

As far as what you're applying for is concerned I don't think Support Group component will count as a Disability premium. I would think they're expecting Enhanced DP or Severe DP, or I think there's DP relating to 'old regime' claims.

So my advice is look into what payments you actually are getting and see if they include EDP (currently £14.80 for single person.. £21.30 couple).. and if not.. try to explain why not.

i might sound stupid (not hard ?) but what is warm home discount ? im with EDF im on DLA top rate for both and ESa SUPPORT GROUP never heard of this discount ??
