Buy what you can from Argos

I cannot find a thread where we can recommend good service, so have put it in here - We bought an RAC pressure washer, cost £150 two weeks ago from Argos direct (not over the internet, just by phone) paid for it by credit card, could not decide whether to buy a Karcher or RAC, anyway, the RAC had a higher spec for less money.!! On using this machine we found it to be top heavy, and we had to be careful not to let it topple over when cleaning the path, the 2 wheels were too small for the height and weight of the machine.
Whilst putting the machine away, on the lawn, winding up the hose, the machine toppled over landed on the very strong handle, the handle was strong, the plastic in the drum where the handle was attached to, was so thin the handle just went into the drum and it broke.
We had had the machine more than the 17 days, but less than the 30 days allowed. We rang Argos direct who could not have been more helpful, dont worry said the lady on the phone, pack it up, put in box if you have it, we will collect next Friday and give you a full refund, but we have broken it we said, yes but there was good reason and it should not have done that. On receipt we will refund on your credit card,.
They did call on Friday, as promised, no quibbles. So we can recommend Argos direct for excellent service, politeness, and efficiency.
The machine, like a lot of goods these days was imported, and not made in Britain.
Thought you may all be interested to hear this little story, makes a change from the bad service we get from a lot of companies these days.
Cheers oap

I agree, they are very good, I had to return a pasta machine which had obviously been used and returned. Not only did they replace it, they also gave me £4 back to pay my parking and inconvenience.
Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

I have always found ARGOS good when returning goods. But it does worry me that they do not even inspect what you return! I once bought something that had clearly been used!
