ukcps and works van

Hey all,
I popped into a Halfords today to buy some mechanical goods for work and I took my works van which is very long. Now if i park normally my van sticks out a mile and obstructs the roadway! So deciding it would be less of a inconvenience for other shoppers I parked the van on a slight angle ensuring i wasn't obstructing the roadway. I did take up a couple of spaces but the car park was no where near full capacity anyway. When i got back i noticed i had a parking ticket off UKCPS.
Now i know the normal advice is to ignore the ticket, but since it was the company vehicle and not my own i'm now worried the company will receive lots of threatening letters off UKCPS.
What would be the best course of action here? If i give my name to UKCPS would that then mean the letters would come to my address and i could ignore them myself, as opposed to work getting them?
Any advice please people????
Thanks,
Tom

Yes, that would be the best course of action if you don't think you can persuade your employers to ignore them. You might as well tell them in the form of an appeal, you can still ignore them after they refuse it.Je suis Charlie.0 -
If your company are not wise to the scam, and may get spooked, then yet, you should divert the PPC's attention to yourself. We've seen stories on other forums where an employer just refused to "get it", despite a lot of effort by the aggreived employee who was being told to reimburse the company (or the vehicle lease company) who'd foolishly paid up.0

I wouldn't appeal and make sure you say its not an appeal. Simply state that you were using Halfords and your vehicle was too big for the bay, so you parked as well as you could without causing an obstruction.
They will probably write back saying you have to pay but it will cut out the company. (or should)0 -
Haswell's probably reading this, so he has been forewarned. If he still refuses to cancel then it just proves what a plonker he is.What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

who's haswell??
Also on that point... my company put a fair amount of business halford's way, and there is no way i could park my van any other way in that situation as they don't have trade parking!
My company is fairly small, so the boss may agree to ignoring this, i'll just have to broach the subject with him tomorrow

Peter Haswell is the Head Tea Boy (he think he's the top banana!) at UKCPS and he comes on here and will work out who you are. So I would expect letters to go to your workplace.
Talk to your boss about you writing as suggested, if you want to (it's YOUR FAKE PCN RUBBISH, not the company's and they have zero liability, as things stand right now with any of this rubbish issued). Show the boss this:

If the boss is canny he should know it's a scam and say 'it's fine, we'll all ignore it'. As long as it's HIS vehicle and not LEASED?? Lease firms can be very very stupid about this scam.
Or he may decide to do a quick letter to Halfords branch manager, complaining, and demanding it's cancelled. As you put a fair amount of business Halford's way he could use his clout to squash it and squash Haswell.
Halfords deals with vehicle mechanical parts and so it is patently RIDICULOUS to try to penalise a van for daring to park there on works business! If I was your boss I would complain and get it cancelled just to make a point to Halfords that these scammers are likely to affect business.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I drive a long-wheel-base minibus in some voluntary work I do sometimes for disabled people. It doesn't fit in a standard parking space so wherever I can I find two spaces back-to-back and use them both.
Never occurred to me that this might get a ticket, but I can see now that it could happen! I hope it does actually. I would be straight onto the PPC to let them know who to chase (me), and I'm sure the local papers would be interested in seeing the collection of threatograms! I can see the headlines now about "Heartless Parking Company etc. etc."Je suis Charlie.0 -
There have already been a few press articles about heartless parknig companys, its not the parking companys people should eb going for, its the ones who think its a good idea to allow them to opperate on the land that they are responsable for.
any bad press should be targeted straight at the individual store/shop/car park owner as they are responsable for the actions of their agents and it is the ones who allow these PPCs to opperate who should be ashamed of themselves, and made to feel the heat. From the Plain Language Commission:

Agreed, but since I don't know yet where I'm going to get this ticket...
Although I can make an educated guess as to the most likely spot.Je suis Charlie.0 -
So ive had a chat to my boss today and rightfully so, he's asked me to write to them acknowledging I was th driver...
What would be the best way to go about doing this??
Should I go in all guns blazing or just let them know it was me?
Also...
I had a chat with the halfords manager about the situation and he says that this happens all the time and that he can't do anything about it unfortunately
