Where do you find £200?

I haven't actually spent any money on my boyfriend, and unfortunately I didn't know I would be needing the extra money before I spent it on birthdays and weddings because I thought I'd be staying at his.
Make it up with the boyfriend-even if only temporary (you stay with him at weekends) to get you past this faux pas with money.
DO NOT get a pay-day loan:eek:
Drive slower!
Car share?
Couch surf
Look at Airbnb for cheap rooms near work.0 -
Try one of the car-share sites, and see if you can match up with someone doing roughly the same journey as you.0

If things are that bad, default on your payment to your parents. Much better consequences than defaulting on a payday loan.
If they moan, tell them to come on here and we'll tell them they should never mix money with family.
As above though, if it is worth selling, sell it.0 -

She's not going to default on a payday loan she has made it clear she can pay it. As a one off it's not the end of the world.
Saying that yoru parents are likely to understand your struggling and be willing to forgo this month in return for 2 months worth next month.
OP a big part of budgetting is having a buffer/savings acounts for emergencys such as this.DEC GC £463.67/£450
EF- £110/COLOR]/£10000 -
DO NOT GET A PAYDAY LOAN
From what I've read recently, banks and lenders are knocking people back for mortgages, loans etc if they have had even one PDL, even if it was paid back in the correct way, no defaults etc.
Maybe speak to your parents about paying more next month and skipping this months payment?
And yes, your idea of a budget is correct, but you should be putting away £x a month for emergencies (which is exactly what I haven't done and had to put £300 odds on my cc for vet bills
)
You live and learn. Don't let this get you down. Budgets are there to be made and mended, just adjust yours to include savings next month
edit - just wrote almost the same as quintwins :-)Can't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
Do a car boot this weekend.
Beg, borrow and steal whatever goods you can from parents, relatives and friends, and get out there and sell, sell, sell. Everybody has stuff they want to get rid of.
Whenever I've done a car boot I've never failed to raise at least £100 and usually far more.
Just remember a few golden rules. Make sure everything is clean, well displayed and PRICED KEENLY. Get there early (7am) and stay til the end. You'll have people trying to buy as you unload your car."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
Someone mentioned drive slower. That's actually good advice! I've started driving slower and save about £50 a month.
Driving at 50-55mph instead of 65-75 will get you an extra 50-80 miles per tank. Other drivers won't like you, but you'll be amazed the difference it makes.
The main problem here though obviously is how far away you work. Car sharing would be an option.
Could you speak to your bank about arranging an overdraft? They're normally cheaper than pay day loans which are the work of the devil.Bank Loans: [STRIKE]£25000[/STRIKE] £0- Barclay Card 14%: [STRIKE]£2500[/STRIKE] £0- Student Loan: [STRIKE]£12,500[/STRIKE] £0
Current total [STRIKE]£40,000[/STRIKE] £0:j (100% PAID OFF)0 -
Stay at your boyfriends a few nights (not every night), book a few days leave, drive more efficiently, sell stuff?
£200 is a lot for under two weeks. Is it a thirsty car? Or do you use it a lot for work? Do you HAVE to use your car - is there a pool vehicle available.0 -
£200 is overdraft territory - ask the bank nicely if you can have a £250 overdraft facility for a month? They already know your spending and earning profile, if it's regular then they'll be interested, and it'll be so much cheaper than a PDL if you repay it properly and only draw on it when you really need it.0
