Lloyds TSB internal card change

Hi,

I am a LLoyds TSB customer and have a "Platinum MasterCard" credit card with them with good limit, always repaying in full (DD).

I wanted to change this card to Lloyds Duo Avios Credit Card, applied and got rejected!

I have been Llloyds TSB customer since my coming to UK almost 2 years ago(EU Citizen), no bad credit history, staying at the same address, nothing!

Have checked my Credit Score with Experian and it says "Fair" BUT no credit cards, accounts or any connection to LLoyds Bank account or Credit Card is showed there. The only reason I can think of is the lack of my middle name on Experian report while it's present in Lloyds.

Therefore I have 2 questions?
1. How can I link "me" with middle-name and "me" without middle name on Experian and any other Credit Rating Agency?
(is it the Electoral Vote that I need to apply? On Electoral Vote I have only first name)
2. Any ideas why LLoyds might have rejected my application?

Many thanks,
jkk

If there's some confusion with your names on your credit report then the Experian's contact centre can help you straighten it out. The Lloyds card should certainly be on there.

In terms of the credit refusal, only Lloyds can explain this. They should be able to to tell you the main reason if you ask. It could be because of your credit report or because of something else such as your salary or that you simply don't fit the profile of customer they're looking for for this particular product.

  • Hi James,

Thank you for your reply. Will try to contact the Experian.

Lloyds told me that their internal rating looks fine but there's smth wrong with my external rating.

If it's the case, that for all agencies my name is "messed up", is there a way of fixing this by "one move"

    Thanks,

  • You shouldn't apply for a new credit card but ask to complete a trade application.
Can I find out my credit score?
You do not have a single credit score or rating. Different organisations take different information into account when working out your credit score and may have different scores for different products. (Kindly from Experian)

Lloyds generally only permit personal customers to have one credit card with them. You've applied whilst already holding a card, therefore have possibly been rejected on that basis.
You should call Lloyds and ask to transfer from one card to the other. You'll still get credit checked, but the process will be smoother as they can just move your balance across from old to new.
  • Hi,

sorry, it's my mistake - I did ask to transfer the card.

    It was rejected though.

    Thanks
