I'm not altogether sure I should be on here anymore as it's not a case of being mortgage free at the moment, but just trying to get the mortgage down as low as possible by July 2016.

This is the date when my brother (who I own my house with) has decided he wants to sell up and move in with his wife (he is engaged at the moment).

He bought my ex out in 2011 and we embarked on being mortgage free by 2021 (when I'm 40), but hey ho, things change.

Hopefully, by the middle of 2016, the mortgage will be down to about £85,000 and I will be able to use the equity in the house and get a mortgage on a property in my own name and then start again on the whole mortgage free wannabe.

But we are still overpaying quite a lot each month. We figured we both need the money to fund our new houses and so might as plough our money into the mortgage as it will just give us more money for when we do sell.
