Pollyanna's Diary!

Another day in the life of Pollyanna, but not much happening on the saving money front which is why I haven't updated my diary.
I'm still trying to be frugal so that I hit my target for next April, and so far so good for this month. I have about £63 left and the car is full of petrol and the shed full of wine! Haha!
The only things I have to buy out of that money is cigarettes:o and stuff to put in the cupboards which are doing okay at the moment.
Girls' dad is taking them this weekend, so I won't have the problem of feeding a 3yr and 1yr old or putting them in nappies (older one still needs them at night, yawn!)Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Yay, another mortgage overpayment done!
Found September hard going, but managed to stick to my budget (well kinda anyway), didn't go too much over.
October looks like it's going to be even harder as I have car insurance to fork out for, yawn.
Gona keep going with the hard slog till next April, so I have my £10,000 to stick on the mortgage, but then think I'm gona have to calm down a bit, as I feel I'm not enjoying life as I'm trying to save so much. I can't even get myself a desperately needed new pair of trainers and I'm feeling bad as it's my daughter's 4th bday this month and I'm scouting for cheap things to buy her.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

It is a balancing act between getting the payments down, but also having a nice life too and with little ones, you will always be paying out for things for quite a few years yet I imagine, so cut yourself some slack and don't overdo it or it will become more of a chore than you want. You are doing so well maybe take a month off now and again it won't hurt the overall figure I am sure
Been here for a long time and don't often post

Thanks Heffi1. It is hard to find a balance, isn't it? I'm so desperate to make a better life for my little girls, so that when they are older and more aware of things, I'm not constantly thinking about money.
But I have to have some kind of life now. I feel like I can't go out anywhere and am always avoiding nights out, but I'm never going to meet anyone if I do that (still not quite sure I do actually want to meet someone, haha).
Doesn't help that my brother (who bought into the house a couple of years ago) seems to have loads of money (single with no kids and a good job) and he has the money already to bung on the mortgage. Can just see it when we do actually have it paid off, although I will have paid exactly the same as him, everyone will assume that it was him paying the bulk and that is so not fair.
Ooh, I'm in a moaning mood today.:rotfl:Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

You've done really well Pollyanna... I agree with Heffi - cut yourself a bit of slack though and enjoy life and your lovely children along the way.....0

Hello
Not very good at this diary malarky. But not doing too bad with the overpaying. Another £500 paid off this month, and still (kinda) on course to pay my share of the £20,000 (i.e. £10,000) that we want to stick on the mortgage come April.
The only problem is is that £10,000 is going to completely wipe me out. In fact, I will probably go overdrawn for a couple of months. But I so don't want to back down on the payment even though my brother has suggested that we could postpone it for a few months. I feel if I do this then I end up "squandering" the money.
But I do need to decorate my girls' room as they are fast outgrowing their cotbeds. Their new bunkbeds alone will set me back about £500 as I want decent mattresses seeing as they will be lying in them years!
And I need to get my car services (£200 ish?) as it is starting to sound a bit ill and I don't want it to just collapse on me like my last one did!Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

So much for people getting bored off me with me writing so much in my diary, but it has been so busy at work that I haven't had time to update my diary. I don't have a working laptop at home at the moment, so the only time I get to go on the net properly is when I'm at work.
The £500 a month overpayment on the mortgage still seems to be going well. And only one more payment to go until we revert back to the BMR which is nice.
Once we've put our £20,000 lump sum on (yep, I'm still on track for that), our mortgage goes down from £992 to £576 and we won't be limited to only £500 a month overpayment.
We have decided to pretty much carry on paying what we are now, so £992+£500=£1,492, so that will be a huge overpayment each month! Yay. Not quite sure what to put on the mortgage free wannabe spreadsheet though. I've put that I want to overpay by £500 a month, but because of my mortgage payment going down, it will be more like £916 overpayment!
Moneywise, I still am going to be pretty broke every month, but I'm not saving up for another lump payment to stick on the mortgage as I found that too hard.
Still saving to get my girlies' bedroom decorated. They are going to their dad for two weeks in the summer, so going to completely redo their room them. Just have to source the stuff and dad will help me do it all. White bunkbeds and pink walls. Can't really go wrong with that for two girls, can't you?!
Also going to Ireland next month, but that hasn't cost me too much. Only going for one night, the flight cost £50 and to park at the airport has cost me £22, so for a weekend away, not bad! Staying with an old school friend.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Well the final payment when our mortgage rate is 5.63% has been paid and the £500 overpayment done.
This time next month, mortgage rate will be 2.5%, yay! and we will have put our lump sump of £20,000 on. Bit nervous about it as it pretty much cleans me out, but I will start on the nest egg again straightaway.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Hi Pollyanna, you've started from scratch before I'm sure it won't take you long to get some savings behind you, loving the ideas of the kids room, very simple yet perfect I'm sure0
