USA Local SIM

I'm off to FL (ORL, JAX and MIA) in October for 2 weeks and need to keep in touch for business while I'm there.

I'll be making a lot of calls both to/from USA and the UK along with hitting data fairly hard (push email, browsing, maybe some social networking, possible some remote desktop for supporting clients) and so figured a local SIM will save me money!

I read an old guide from Martin about this but it's old and the providers mentioned don't offer the same packages any more.

What's the best way to get this sorted in the UK before I travel?

Anyone done it recently?

Thanks All,
Adam

Prepaid - Pay by the Day plans
Prepaid - Pay As You Go

You'll probably need to get a phone card in order to make International calls cheaply from the mobile telephone.

check out truphone - dual UK/US sim. We use the business pay monthly service and travel extensively and it works great

I bought a micro from ebay, it worked fine, but no PAYG data plan, which was all I really wanted. AFAIK it is not possible to get internet on PAYG in the USA I looked at a lot of options but couldn't see how to do it, but for calls it's fine.
There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.

I must do, AT&T was the only sim I could find.

It's clearly not as straightforward as it is in this country.
  • We always buy one from 'Simple Mobile'. Really cheap!

I was going to mention them, but I wasn't sure of the general availability.
