Faulty Gas Meter - box flooded - HELP!

I believe "semi buried" meters are supposed to have top dials which would result in the dial being above finished ground level.
A lot use a normal meter, but use a semi con kit which rises it out off the floor. They do have some with top dials but you don't tend to see themDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0 -
The meter readers always rip open the boxes instead of using the key causing damage to them so them being waterproof is not reliable0

A lot use a normal meter...
If you say so. I am not in any position to know what happens in practice however the current National Grid guide says this... ""A special Semi Concealed meter is required from the Gas Supplier or Meter Asset Manager if this box is selected". Elsewhere I have seen mention of a specific meter model number.
My underlying point (or question) however, assuming correct installation of the correct meter, are any water vulnerable parts of the installation below finished ground level? So far no answer has been offered.0 -

Thanks to all of you for great responses.
Just to update you. A guy from Providor came today and drilled 3 holes in the base of the box and the water drained straight away. The situation now is that a new meter needs to be fitted and a new lid. Awaiting to hear if I am liable for costs.0 -
Hi Jalexa, have had a closer look at the semi concealed boxes. There are four drainage holes at the bottom corners of a few I looked at today, about the size of a 2p coin. Not raised off the ground0

Thanks to everyone who responded to my post.
Just to let you know that the box is now dry and I am awaiting a new meter to be fitted and a new lid to the box. Southern Gas, have agreed to pay all costs.
A lot of hassle and stress would have been prevented though, if Southern Gas had drilled the holes in the box when the problem first surfaced!0
