Overpayments of TC

Sent renewal forms back earlier in July 2012.
Yesterday received a letter "provisional" dated 03 August 2012.
Despite sending all the details they required in the new renewal form, such as hubby's income and Carer's allowance details, they have confirmed an overpayment of just over £800.
Ok, fair enough.
But the letter said it will not deduct payments as yet until I forward further info and to send before end of July 2012. (Note their letter was dated 03 August).
As said above, they received the completed form with income etc to 05 April 2012, they questioned on another amount.
I think this must come down to the fact that back in January of this year (2012) the award ended, but it was reinstated in March 2012 because of my disabled son in non advanced education, for this I had to give them details of income earned to date which I sent, and then received a letter to confirm they had received the details and what was owed to date 05 April 2012.
The overpayment is for the year 2011 to 2012 as it seems.
Anyway, they stated on the provisional award that the new payments will be £104 a week, and until further notice until info is received of the income query, so yesterday I got a letter sent off with the details they require with photo copies of their own letters received of they they re-awarded TC in March 2012, as I wanted to get this out of the way.
On checking today, it appears that the amount paid into the account is that of £90 and not the £104 as they said on the letter received yesterday. (Maybe there is a further letter in the post not received yet) but as I only just received the provisional yesterday, I was not aware of the overpayment until then, and as their own letter (provisional) was dated 03 August 2012) how can I possibly give them any details by the end of July?
(Sorry this is so long). And fair enough if there are overpayments, but just baffled really.
Cheers.
