having trouble finding a tiler

Anyone got any recommendations for a tiler in the merseyside area
Have had the job up on rated people for 5 days now.Not a sniff
Area is 2 square meters, kitchen splash back (along 2 walls)
Supplying tiles myself.
I can tile, but when I split up with my ex he took all my tools, so seen as the job isn't a big one and tbh I hate tiling round sockets etc and there are 3 of them. I thought it would be easier and quicker to pay for a tiler.
I have put budget under £250 but would really be expecting around £70 to £100 (£35 to £50 per sq m)
Have I under priced this job or am I missing something. Is it just because its a small job?

It's not down to you to price the job. It's down to the person doing the quote. You may well be correct in thinking that the job is too small for many to consider worthwhile.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

I always say there is no such thing as a small job, however the going rate is £25 m2 so your 2m should be about £50 & if you have sockets etc to go round then this really isn't enough money for a tiler to bother with, so you will prob have to pay double or treble that amount, but & this is where your prob lies most tilers will think if they come in at that amount they won't get the job as they are over pricing it so they won't bother quoting.
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

No tiler will price a job this size on meterage. Unless he's got another job to do of a similar size in the afternoon nearby having done yours in the morning then you are looking at a day rate or else he's losing money by taking it on. So £70 is waaaay too low.

  • Not sure if it helps in your case but when we have small jobs we lump more than one of them together but then we have a lot of things to do on our house so it isn't hard to find something else.

Given that you may have to up the cost to make it worthwhile have you considered glass instead? You may have already bought the tiles or not like the look of glass but just thought I'd mention it because if you went for a glass splash back and upstands (full glass on the walls would cost more because of the cut outs for sockets) it might not cost much more than the £250 you mentioned.
