House in France.

We want to let our house in France but most sites for this require a fee up front. So where did/would you go to find a long term furnished let in France?

There isn't quite such a developed market for long-term furnished lets at the moment (I keep expecting it to increase, but it's slow). Speaking as someone who is looking as a prospective customer, I trawl a couple of property-owners sites. Try googling 'Anglo info' and 'french property forum'.

The only nation-wide French property site I'm aware of is something like 'long term lets in France', which is very much stronger in some areas than others. Otherwise, I refer to the standard short-term holiday rental sites, where owners sometimes indicate that they will consider lets by multiples of months.

I am aware of some very localised letting sites that cover short and long term rentals, but these are run as 'agency' sites so involve either a fee or them taking a cut of the rental. I prefer to deal direct with owners.

Every considered listing on ebay ?

Which area is your house in ? Might be worth discussing if it's in one of the areas I'm looking to rent . . . . .

So there's a gap in the market, whichever side of the fence you're on.

How many weeks is the shortest term and which months?

Cannot really help other than to say I know of an elderly couple (both retired) who 'disappear' for 3 > 6 months every year (generally Spain) as they say it is cheaper to live there in rented accommodation than pay their heating bills etc in UK. They always find their accommodation from The Lady magazine.

Tnanks all, I have already posted on Angloinfo, Poitou-charantes see "Lovely house fully furnished to very high standard" in property for rent, and tried on French entree but they don't allow adds for long lets.
Richard, we are looking for 6 months or more but would consider 3 months bearing in mind that we will be in UK and will need to check things out before returning deposit.
Will check put The Lady mag.

If you didn't like the cost of listing on the rental sites then advertising in The Lady may sting also.

Ouch! That is expensive. This is meant to be a MSE solution.
