Help!

Can anybody help me please? I'm travelling abroad later in the year and I'm still waiting for my credit card to arrive. I've seen some really cheap flight deals and my friend says I can use her card so I'm protected incase anything goes wrong. But if something does go wrong, will it cause problems trying to claim back any money because it's not my card? Thanks.

    Makes no difference who's card you use, it will be covered by S75 CCA if it's over £100.

    It's no hassle whatsoever for anyone. Why are you assuming there will be a problem with the flights or card company?
  • Thanks, but will it be lots of hassel for my friend or myself because it's not my card? I don't know how difficult these companies can be.

    Sorry if this is not relevant to you as I'm not sure which part of the world you are flying to, but some airlines require you to show the card you used to book and pay for the flight with at check-in for verification. I've experienced this at some far-East airlines such as Cathay Pacific.

    No, the card only needs to be shown to a staff member at any time between the payment and the issue of a boarding pass.

    In the most extreme kind of scenario, your friend could use a UK credit card to buy a ticket for you to fly Cathay from New York to Vancouver (one of their few routes that they are allowed to sell tickets on that don't go through Hong Kong), and he could show the card to the Cathay ticket office in Sydney. All they have to do is clear a flag on the booking and you will be fine to check in.

    Technically, not just any member of staff, but to either sales desk or check-in. Copy and pasted from CX website:

    1. How do I pay for tickets purchased online?

    Currently, we accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club and JCB.

    Please note: The physical credit card used to pay for tickets must be presented by the cardholder for verification at check-in. Otherwise the cardholder or virtual card user must present the physical card used at the nearest Cathay Pacific Ticketing Office for verification prior to the flight departure.
