any thoughts?

Hi everyone,
I posted a couple of weeks ago and am looking to pick your brains again. i have been on a payment plan for a nationwide credit card, current balance of £8700. payment plan of £45 per month through their in house debt collection agency KPR. several times in the past they have offered me partial settlement of 25%. i wrote to them last week to offer 10% which they have declined (i was expecting this), on the basis that the current balance is very high. should i write to them and haggle? if so how much do you think i should offer? or should i just ask what amount they would accept?
is it worth me calling them or best to stick to letters?
many thanks
xxx

Or you could phone them up and say you'll payback every penny you've borrowed which I'll expect they will except this.
  • Thanks for your post BugsyBrowne but thats a bit rude! I have been working my backside off for four years trying to pay this off. Please dont judge those you dont know.

You should not play games with them. After all you did borrow the money and do have a responsability to pay it back. They say 25% but you tease them with a 10% does not seem right.

I take from your post you can pay more than your original offer so tell them exactly what you can afford.
